Awesome stuff! Did he do the Bantam bookcovers for Bond in the US, too?

Thats a good question.
If you are talking about the DAF and LALD covers that tied in with the
movie releases then the answer is definitely yes as McGinnis did the
posters.
However I think you are refering to the original artwork on the covers
of CR, FRWL, GF, DN and Colonel Sun. and agree that they are great Bond
depictions. I do have copies of those but they don't list the
artist's name. I don't think those were Mcginnis but seem to be the
work of the artist that did the Doc Savage covers.
I do remember that there was a section on the apparently now defunct
Art of James Bond webpage by "Red Grant" that had the answer.
Fabulous page and its a great loss that its gone. Anyone know what
happened to it?
Anyway, I'm researching the answer and I'll post the info about the
Bantam covers when I locate some info.

Matt

Excellent! I look forward to it!
Not sure about the Bond art site. MGM probably shut it down.

Just found out that the artist that did the Bantam books was James
Bama. He is in fact the same guy that did Doc Savage. Another
impressive detail that I found is that he was also the same artist that
illustrated the Aurora Universal Monster model kits from the 60's.
You'll also remember that Aurora also had a James Bond and an Oddjob
kit.... Could it be he has two connections to Bond? I'll post that
too if I can find the answer.
As far as the Art Of James Bond site, I've asked several webmasters
that linked to the site and they are baffled by its disappearance too.
A true mystery

Matt
