Does anyone know if the original "shorts" of The Simpsons from the Tracy
Ullman show have ever been released on DVD?
Thanks.

I think I've seen bootleg DVDs of the Ullman shorts on sale.
However, there has never been an "official" release, except that three
or four of them were released as part of the VHS season releases in
the 1990s (and one of them was missing its last scene). I think it
has something to do with backstage politics involving Ullman and/or
her show's producers over who has the rights to them.

The problem is the whole issue with Homer's name originally being
Captain Wacky. it created a lot of legal and licensing hassles.

Actually, his original name was "Dad" - that's how he was credited in
"Good Night". (The characters were credited as Dad, Mom, Bart, Lisa,
and Maggie. Did you know that Marge is never mentioned by name in any
of the shorts (except in the credits)?)
