I notice that FZ does seem to fare better than Old Blue Eyes in the
frozen north.

Questions, questions, questions .. flooding the minds of concerned
youth:
How does Google identify a city as a source of a search? (national
domains - which Google calls 'Regions' as a weasel word to avoid the
inconvenience of the continued existence of Taiwan and a couple of
other places - I understand, but cities?)
Why the spike from Chile?
Norway, Sweden, and Denmark have tiny populations. Sure, they're well
connected to the Net. But what is this telling us - they do more
searches, in absolute number, than the whole of the US population?
My eyeball suggests that both lines (FZ & FS) are declining. What is
this: search saturation? Inquisitiveness about FZ and FS is being
satisfied over time and will decline to 0?
And the peaks towards the end of each calendar year: are they provoked
by social obligations for end of year gifts? Cabin fever in the cold
northern hemisphere?
Cheers

Okay, so Google uses IP addresses to allocate searchers to cities.
Do IP addresses have such a fine geographic resolution? Does my IP
address (from right here in Malaysia; it's 218.111.184.131 right now)
really tell you whether I'm in Kuala Lumpur or George Town or Gelugor
or Sungai Nibong (seeing as how the concept of city in Malaysia is a
tad loose)?
Cheers

It's Google. They know everything that your ip Google searched for. Quite a
lot of those searches would include a city or a region. They even have
computers to sort those things out <g>

And if you ever type your home address into Google maps they'll have
that tied to your IP.
D'oh.
