A while back I read this fine article about the song "St. James
Infirmary" and contacted the author to let him know about the Guitar
version of "It Ain't Necessarily The Saint James Infirmary". It's a
really interesting article, highly recommended (and if I got the
original link from someone here, my apologies 'cause I can't remember):
http://www.bestofneworleans.com/dispatch/2005-06-14/cover_st ory.php
The author, Rob Walker, bought Guitar and, not being much of a Zappa
fan, ended up really digging it. In the process he became interested in
Frank's Conceptual Continuity. Now he's asked me for articles or sites
that cover the topic in more detail.
I've pointed him to Watson (with the usual caveats) and the Zappa
Patio, but I'm coming up blank on something more pithy. He's not (yet)
a fanatic and won't get much out of those rather deep resources.
So I turn to the inestimable AFFZ'ers....

He can't be bothered to listen to the catalog and do his own research,
he's going to copy other folks' analyses?

Lyrical, musical, or performance conceptual continuity?
The group's FAQ, especially Vladimir Sovetov's Notes and Comments, are
an invaluable guide to lyrical CC. Musical CC is covered too. For CC in
performance, you might need to wait for Charles' forthcoming opus.
The affz FAQ may still be available from rtfm.mit.edu (I've not looked
there for years). A search (for the multi-part FAQ, VS's Notes and
Comments, or just for the term CC or CCC) on Google Groups should prove
profitable, too. Vladimir's Russian-domain website may also still be
live.
Cheers
Bil

Many of Román's Songlist pages (e.g.
<http://globalia.net/donlope/fz/songs/Stink-Foot.html>) have CC links as
well.

Yup. Thanks y'all.
And Bill, on second thought, you're right too. I quoted you directly in
my reply. Fact is there ain't no shortcuts. I was 17 when I started
digging Frank. I'm 43 now, and I still don't know shit.
