Dumbledore says "He would trust Hagrid with his life." Suppose he meant
also that Hagrid has a 'portion' of his life already. Suppose dd had to
kill another wizard and chose to make a horcrux for himself. Leaving the
portion of his soul in Hagrid's care."
How do you deferenciate between magical murder or killing in self defense?
Note Hagrid was the one to take care of DD's body. And a phoenix was not
only his pet but the shape that arose from his tomb.
I think Ms. Rowlings is a genious more for leaving such possiblilities
than for making everything fit together without question.

Given DD and Jo's views on killing, I'd say no.

While I will have to agree with you. I think Harry is very unprepared to
deal with dark magic. The Bad Guys have all the powerful spells while
the Good Guys have all the defensive (but not useful against really
nasty spells). Harry needs to either have an unknown to us advantage. Or
to be able to stick a knife in Voldomorts back. Robert Asprin has a
series of books that one of the quotes states that a knife to the back
is as good as or better than a wizard's duel.
That is paraphrasing...

First off, nothing you say here has anything to do with the topic at hand,
ie, did DD create a horcrux that Hagrid has hidden away somewhere.

Defensive = not powerful?

Really? Then how did a bunch of teenagers manage to hold their own again
the DE, at least for a little while?

Or a known one, that has been mentioned at least once.

Yeah... cuz having a story where the hero defeats his enemy by attacking
him from behind is a real good message.
There ARE "good guys" (re, "anti-heroes") who would do this without a
second thought, and that's fine--but that's not Harry.

Murder spits the soul *because* it is evil.
If DD soul would ever be split he would try to repair it, he would not try
to make an [evil] horcrux.

I am not aware that this is possible. Nor do I believe that DD could
"murder" someone to get his soul to "fragment".
That still leaves us with the possibility that the Dumbledore who died -
could have been someone else who used the PolyJuice potion to look
like Dumbledore.
