Doby's potential role [message #265141] Fr, 12 Mai 2006 16:59

Doby has already protected Harry from one DE.
Wonder if they could partner up .... or Doby and friends.

Could Doby and friends be put to work looking for Horcruxes?

Instead of "Kreacher, go stay with the Dursley's", perhaps "Kreacher,
disarm V".

Just thinking of the resources available to Harry.
- DD's army
- OoTP Members
- Doby and friends
- possibly the Hippogriff population
- Centaurs?
-
?????

Wonder if House Elves have some as yet unexposed powers to locate
hidden things?

"This place has known magic" (DD in the cave) - so if magic has been
applied, then it can be sensed. Someone needs to sniff GG's
sword.(oops, no... let's see how to reword that). - Mike

Are you looking for the great battle like in the lord of the ring?

It'd be stupid to trust kreacher, who's always scheming to defy Harry
on a technicality. Dobby is best.

Well, that's one way to get rid of Kreacher.

Who were not very effective in book 6 except for Luna, Neville, and
the Trio. But maybe they will have realized they have to become
more alert.

Dobby may be very helpful. I'm less sure of the Hogwarts
house-elves. I'm sure they'll be loyal to Hogwarts and to
McGonagall, but I don't recall any refusing to work for Umbridge.
If someone else takes over as headmaster, I doubt they'll rebel.
(OTOH, all those hats and socks ought to be good for something.)

Only the ones Hagrid has trained, and if the students/teachers
remember to bow while maintaining eye contact.

>- Centaurs?

Not likely. Except for Firenze, the Centaurs refuse to get
involved in any attempt to affect what they think they see
predicted. They're more likely to attack Firenze to try to
prevent him from doing anything helpful.

They are bound to have some powers we don't know about. The ones
they do have are pretty good - apparate through barriers, transport
stuff through stone walls accurately at a distance (food onto plates,
etc), move around unseen even by alert children.

Harry's "breeze" that he keeps feeling seems to be his ability to
sense magic, but he hasn't made the connection yet. He felt a
"breeze" as the magic went past him in Dumbledore's office, and
he is just beginning to figure it out. But that's active magic;
sensing the residue may take more sensitivity. Hermione will
probably know the spell for it.

After having the safest place on earth violated, I'm sure the DA will
be owling Harry demanding more lessons. Hermione will probably start
brewing up some luck for them.
