Heard that EON is shooting Bond films back to back so that there will be
one in 2007.
Not saying that this is the truth, just wondering if it is just another
silly rumor.

--- Barb Broccoli has already said, a few weeks back, that work has
begun on the sequel. Of course, it's all in trying to figure out what
she means by "work has begun." I imagine it's not much more than Purvis
& Wade - what, them again? - being at the very earliest stages of the
script at this point. I wouldn't be surprised if they might not have
had an immediate follow-up sequel planned all along while writing CR,
so that could mean P&W could end up scribbling off the new script in
quick enough time for another January shooting start, maybe earlier,
all in time for a November 2007 release. But I'd really be impressed
if they had it ready for the ultimate marketing date tie-in: 07-07-007.
Oh, and of course, the grand world premiere to begin showing at 7 p.m.

In the books, wasn't four sevens Bond's code number at one point?

Well they did confirm back in the press conference when Craig was unveiled
as the new 007 that they were already working on the script for Bond 22
I personally do think that they want to release Bond 22 In 2007.
It will be the 1st Bond film to be released Back to Back since LALD and
TMWTGG

--- Technically, it should. Realistically, well... realistically, it
actually could probably work for the more rabid fans willing to get up
early enough for it and wait in line. It certainly would make it a
different experience to view it at that time as a world premiere. I
guess I was just thinking too traditionally with the 7 p.m. idea. I
don't thnk I'd even mind catching it as a 7 a.m. showing.

Films have to recoup their cost/make profit before sequels, follow-ups
are made. If CR underperforms there won't be a second Craig Bond film
PERIOD - and Sony will need worldwide theatrical box office and dvd
retail sales to determine whether that will be the case. Unless CR is a
massive hit at the cinema, Sony will have to wait and see how well CR
does on dvd and any CR dvd release will be spring or summer of next
year - making it impossible to have Bond 22 out by November 2007.
The logicial thing was to have delayed CR until November 2007 and that
would have given Eon more time to find a better Bond than Craig! Oh
well.

I also believe this talk of a second Craig film in 2007 is just PR puff
to promote the guy. Kind of Eon saying "he's so amazing we'll be making
the next film next year."
Sony won't bankroll a second Craig Bond film until they know Craig is a
viable commodity.
Look at Hugh Jackman and Van Helsing. Was meant to be a franchise - the
film underperformed - no franchise. Same could happen with Craig's
Bond. Indeed, I think it's almost certain. I regard Craig as 100
percent unmarketable as James Bond. But time will tell...

I hate to be a skeptic, but I wonder: What boost in a film's overall
profits does it gain by coming out on a certain day? Sure, if it
comes out on certain holidays, those are important because people
actually alter their moviegoing plans for those days.
But how much extra would James Bond 22 earn if it came out in 2007, or
on July 7? Let's say it cost them an extra $50k or $100k to swing
that; would it earn that money back?
(Even as I type this, the apparently pointless "Omen" remake is going
to be released on 6/6/06 :-)
