Have a look at this

There arn't to many people up there, but if it keeps going west it
could cause trouble for Darwin. When they follow that path they like to
re-intensify in the gulf and have a wack at the NT.
Actually I would like to hear what happened with Naomi's work with
regards to not paying people the monday no one could go to work.
Especially after the goverment has been playing up the fact of how
generous they are being with their disaster relief money, for
businesses and farmers that is.

Not good for NT communities, but the ones that make it into the gulf tend to
drag the rain behind them into our area. This is a good thing for us at the
moment.

Yes, that's what I thinking of too. We know she got through the last one OK.
Though I don't think the relief money would go to people living in Cairns
itself. Farmers to the south perhaps?

I need to drive to Port Douglas by Saturday for a wedding but i think
the roads will be cut soon so I'm not sure if we should risk the drive.
Could do with more rain, but only in the dam. My grass is begining to
reminding me of the disastrous swamp broom landing in WA. Looks like
grass but it aint!
I'm cranky at the supermarkets because the day after the news started
saying "oh the poor banana farmers" and talking about how bananas WILL
be in short supply they hiked their prices by at least 100%. Now the
bananas in the shops had already been paid for so the extra money coles
and woolies charged did not go to the farmers. If it had, the shops
would have been saying "look how good we are donating this money etc"
I can understand that they are pricey now but the day after the cyclone
hit was a bit rude if you ask me. It will be interesting to drive
through all the cane feilds and see how much clean up has been done, if
any. And I want to see the rain forest outside of Cardwell. They say
it will take up to tweny years to recover, considering how old the
forest is thats pretty impressive.

Over here, that's called price gouging, and illegal. A few gas stations
around here just got slapped with pretty heavy fines for having done that
after New Orleans got soaked.

Really makes me angry when people take advantage of disasters in any
form. It's pretty low. That's probably the first thing I have heard
about people doing the right thing in New Orleans (fining the people
price gouging). All we got on the news was how terrible the government
handled everything , oh and some "human interest" story about a guy who
looked after a hole bunch of pets for the people who were forced to
evacuate without them.

I wish they'd fine Exxon and Mobil since they've had record high profits. I

I've kind of been making brief visits and lurking a bit lately, RL has
been busy and when I log on and there are 1000 or so unread messages
even afp can turn into a chore. Work did a backflip and paid us, I think
they knew it wouldn't be good publicity if they didn't.
I'm glad someone noticed I wasn't around much. I've been a bit down
lately, and my Dr has asked me to try altering my diet and to be a bit
more active rather than the medication route this time, I can see how
that would help, it's motivation I'm having trouble with, however he
also suggested that I try not to be so self critical, so I'm not being
to mean to me about not excersising. If I could find something fun that
didn't involve hard work I'd consider it.

Put some music on when doing the housework and do the washing up dance and

If you mark the Letsebruergesch thread as read, you will clear up about 90%
of your unread posts. There is some interesting debate in there but you have
to weigh up how many hours you have in a day.

Thanks a bunch. Ear worm (from TV advertisement back in the evil days when I
watched such things):
"Do the Shake-n-Vac n' put the freshness back,
Do the Shake-n-Vac n' put the freshness back,
Do the Shake-n-Vac n' put the freshness back,
Do the Shake-n-Vac n' put the freshness back"
The tune wasn't actually all that bad - insofar as you wouldn't have cringed
if you'd heard it *once* in the middle of a decent song - but the
lyrics...!

After two repetitions, didn't it go:
"If your carpet smells fresh your room does too,
Ev'ry time you vacuum, remember what to do,"
Not a huge improvement, I admit...

Good grief - you're right. Thanks a bundle.

Let's just say it's not going to hit the top of the underground charts any
time soon. I make no claims about the pop charts - *anything* is possible
there.

My doctor said I had to do an exercise class, so I do, and found to my
surprise that it's actually quite fun - it's almost a social occasion.

I'm glad work paid you! If your not a big fan of exercise/find it hard
to allocate time for but you need to be active I find it easy to park
your car in the back corner of the car park if you go to the shops or
where ever this can add upto ten minutes walking time each time you do
it, ever little bit helps. Also if you want help breaking self
critical thoughts Paul Hanna is a good author (if you don't mind being
spotted in the self help section of a book shop) Good luck and I hope
you start to feel better very soon. No doubt that will be easier when
all that rain clears up!

Got through to Port Doglas Ok, only had to drive throught water 30cm
deep twice at Tully. And there were a few land slids up past Cairns.
The pot holes were big enough to lose a car in at some places. We had
to have 2 people "driving" in each car. The second person was on pot
hole watch.
Saw the damage from the last cyclone. The rainforest isn't there any
more! From a distance it looks like there has been a massive fire but
when you get up close it is all bare trunks. It was like someone took
a giant comb and combed out all the leaves. Some trees had sheets of
tin from roofs stuck in them, would have been bloody scarey to go
through.
We wanted to stop in Innisfail and have our lunch break there to put
money into the area, but alot of the shop signs were damaged so we
found it hard to find a place to stop. On our way home we pulled into
McDonalds so the kids could play on the equipment. The playground was
unmarked, yet the place across the road had no roof! That says a lot
for modern day plastic play equipment!
