Upcoming Episodes plus STUFF for "Girls Just Want to Have Sums" (HABF12) [message #255070] Mo, 01 Mai 2006 05:58
Don Del Grande
5/7 - DOUBLE FEATURE
7:00 - We're on the Road to D'ohwhere (HABF04)
After a prank involving the school's steam tunnels, Bart gets sent to
a camp in Oregon, but thanks to Bart being on the no-fly list, Homer
has to drive him there; the big seller at Marge's yard sale is the
family supply of expired medications
8:00 - Regarding Margie (HABF13)
When Stan wipes out most of Francine's memory, he tries recreating
events from her past in order to...no, wait, that was an "American
Dad" episode...
When Marge loses most of her memory as a result of inhaling too many
cleaning product fumes while spring cleaning, she forgets that she's
married to Homer, even after Homer's attempts to get her to remember
anything familiar...what, are they that starved for ideas that they're
reworking "American Dad" episodes now?

5/14 - DOUBLE FEATURE
7:00 - My Fair Laddy (HABF05)
As a science fair project, Lisa tries to turn Groundskeeper Willie
into a refined gentlemen, complete with songs that sound an awful lot
like the ones in "My Fair Lady"
8:00 - The Monkey Suit (HABF14)
Ned Flanders gets Mayor Quimby to appoint Reverend Lovejoy as
Springfield's "morality czar", whose job it is to promote creationism
and prevent the teaching of evolution, resulting in Lisa's arrest when
she tries to spread the word of Charles Darwin - and a comment made
way back in the show's first season may end up saving her
(if you're wondering about the title, it's a reference to the Scopes
"monkey trial")

5/21 - GASP! TRIPLE FEATURE!
7:00 - The Seemingly Never-Ending Story (HABF06)
When Homer gets stuck in a hole in a cave and Marge and Bart go off
in search of help, Lisa keeps Homer company by telling him a story
that includes Mr. Burns telling Lisa a story of the time Moe told
Burns a story
7:30 - Homer Simpson, This is Your Wife (HABF08)
Ricky Gervais (of the BBC version of "The Office") wrote, and guest
voices in, this episode, where Homer gets involved in a new TV show
(in order to win a widescreen TV like the one Lenny has) in which he
has to trade wives with another man
8:00 - Marge and Homer Turn a Couple Play (HABF16)
Homer and Marge are asked to help patch up the marriage of one of the
Isotopes's star players after he sees them kiss on the Jumbotron
during a game, but when Homer is caught giving the player's wife a
neck massage, it's a doubleheader in the breakup department
* Note that the title originally appeared as "Homer and Marge...",
but the Fox press release says "Marge and Homer...", and these are
almost always the correct titles; also note the ID is HABF16, not
HABF15 as The Futon Critic originally listed

5/28 - PRE-EMPTED for the Coca-Cola 600 NASCAR race (western stations
will air local programming after the race)

STUFF for "Girls Just Want to Have Sums" (HABF12)
-------------------------------------------------
Written by Matt Selman
Directed by Nancy Kruse
Special Guest Voice: Frances McDormand; Marcia Wallace
Also Starring: Pamela Hayden, Tress MacNeille, Russi Taylor,
Karl Wiedergott
Additional Vocals by: Amick Byram, James Gilstrap, Bob Joyce,
Sally Stevens, Oren Waters
Blackbaord: none
Couch: the lights come on to reveal it's a surprise, causing Homer
to have a heart attack (repeat of GABF06)
Overseas Animation: Rough Draft
TV Rating: TV-PG-V

REVIEW: A-minus - this one had everything going for it, from the
Itchy & Scratchy musical to Lisa letting Martin have it in the final
scene. It had the occasional hiccup, like Lisa coping out from the
explanation at the end and a little too much wreckage in the boys'
school, which is why it didn't rate an A.

REFERENCES
"Girls Just Want to Have Fun" (title)
"Yentl" (girl dresses as a boy to attend a boys-only class; Nelson
says they've been Yentled)
"Five Guys Named Moe" ("One Guy Named Moe")
"Spamalot", "Camelot" ("Stab-A-Lot")
"The Lion King" (the opening to "Stab-A-Lot", plus the use of
visible humans guiding the animals)
"Jesus Christ Superstar" ("I Don't Know Why I Trust Him" sounds a lot
like "I Don't Know How to Love Him")
4F21 (Lisa tries to get into an all-boys class)
7G05 (Nelson's "henchman" appears to hold Nelson's false teeth)

DYN
....when Skinner comments that girls don't do as well at math as
boys, he forgets that his best student is a girl?
....singing Itchy & Scratchy sound nothing like the speaking
versions?
....nobody was dancing with Ralph in the ballroom dance?
....Nelson's henchman from 7G05 holds Nelson's false teeth?
....Martin says the mathematically-correct "negative five" instead
of the more popular "minus five" when referring to the number -5?
....the US TV rating didn't include an L for language even though
the subtitles for the frog said "penis"?
....Principal Skinner doesn't have his job back at the end of the
episode?
....the five singers credited as "additional vocals" also did vocals
for the "King Kong" remake?

GOOFS / FREEZE FRAME / WHATNOT
A woman did invent Liquid Paper; in fact, it was the mother of Michael
Nesmith of "The Monkees".

LYRICS (music by Alf Clausen; lyrics by Matt Selman)
(titles are as they appear in the closing credits)
----------
"Two Days, Two Circles"
(background chant: Itchy Scratchy, Itchy Itchy Scratchy)
From the day you were born in the alley
To the day you are hit by a car
There's cream to drink, and mice to eat
And great big balls of yarn
It's the circle...
The circle of - KNIFE!

"It's Symbiotic"
(Scratchy) I don't know why I trust him
I guess some cats just never learn
(Itchy) I feel so good when I have crushed him
Or left him mangled, maimed, and burned
(Duet) I suppose it's symbiotic
And perhaps a bit erotic
(S) 'Cause pain is my narcotic
(I, speaking) You really liked it?
(S, speaking) Yes, I loved it
(Duet) And that's why we're always...
(I) Fighting
(S) And fighting
(I) And dynamite igniting

And that's not a misspelling - "Isotopes's" is correct ("Isotopes'"
means "belonging to more than one Isotope")

The target of Lisa's math trophy was actually Ralph. (If, by "letting
Martin have it," you meant calling him a "stupid flautist," then never
mind.)

Ah, but the target of Lisa's folding chair was Martin. (If you want to talk
about themes from the older days, Lisa's bratty [Barty?] side is often fun to
see, as just now when I reviewed the tape to be sure my correction was, well,
correct.)

And since I'm in a correctin' mood, a couple things from your own notes...
-You wrote the math problem as "Y + Y = 25," instead of * (or x, or × if that
shows up)
-For the "Why did I multiply?" FFF, it might be useful to note that Agnes was
holding that one.

What film are the short synthesizer snippers referencing? It feels
familiar, but I just can't place it.
