Upcoming Episodes - April 30-May 14 [message #254804] Di, 25 April 2006 03:25
Don Del Grande
4/30 - DOUBLE FEATURE
7:00 - Homer's Paternity Coot (HABF03)
A mailman lost for 40 years is found (thanks in part to Marge's
refusal to use a new toll road), along with his 40-year-old bag of
unopened mail, including a letter to Homer's mother which leads him
to believe that Grampa may not be his real father
8:00 - Girls Just Want to Have Sums (HABF12)
Frances McDormand guest voices as Springfield Elementary's new
principal when Skinner is fired (after a sexist remark made at a
performance of "Itchy & Scratchy: The Musical" STOP COMPLAINING
ABOUT THE MUSICAL NUMBERS...where was I? Oh, right, anyway, the new
principal replaces Springfield Elementary with boys-only and girls-
only schools, but when Lisa realizes that the girls aren't really
being taught anything, especially in math, she gets Bart to help her
masquerade as a boy so she can attend the boys' school.

5/7 - DOUBLE FEATURE
7:00 - We're on the Road to D'ohwhere (HABF04)
After a prank involving the school's steam tunnels, Bart gets sent to
a camp in Oregon, but thanks to Bart being on the no-fly list, Homer
has to drive him there; the big seller at Marge's yard sale is the
family supply of expired medications
8:00 - Regarding Margie (HABF13)
When Stan wipes out most of Francine's memory, he tries recreating
events from her past in order to...no, wait, that was an "American
Dad" episode...
When Marge loses most of her memory as a result of inhaling too many
cleaning product fumes while spring cleaning, she forgets that she's
married to Homer, even after Homer's attempts to get her to remember
anything familiar...what, are they that starved for ideas that they're
reworking "American Dad" episodes now?

5/14 - DOUBLE FEATURE
7:00 - My Fair Laddy (HABF05)
As a science fair project, Lisa tries to turn Groundskeeper Willie
into a refined gentlemen, complete with songs that sound an awful lot
like the ones in "My Fair Lady"
8:00 - The Monkey Suit (HABF11)
Ned Flanders gets Mayor Quimby to appoint Reverend Lovejoy as
Springfield's "morality czar", whose job it is to promote creationism
and prevent the teaching of evolution, resulting in Lisa's arrest when
she tries to spread the word of Charles Darwin - and a comment made
way back in the show's first season may end up saving her
(if you're wondering about the title, it's a reference to the Scopes
"monkey trial")

Fox has already announced that "The War at Home" will end its season
on April 30, and the last "Malcolm in the Middle" will air on May 14
at 8:30; also, The Futon Critic says that 5/14 will also be the
season finales of "King of the Hill" (which makes sense as it's the
show's 200th episode and something happens in it that makes an
excellent cliffhanger) and "American Dad". This suggests that either
Fox will air three Simpsons (presumably a repeat and two new ones) and
three Family Guys on 5/21, or they'll air a movie.
(5/28 is the Coca-Cola 600 NASCAR race, which pre-empts all other Fox
Sunday programming)

Why wouldI Fox want to put the last "Malcolm in the Middle" directly
against the seocnd half of the last "The West Wing"?

No doubt it will be this season's "Bart Mangled Banner," full of
sophisticated irony and wit!

The three Family Guys will be "Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story."

Also SNPP.com gives both "The Wettest Stories Ever Told" and "The
Monkey Suit" as HABF11. Which is it? And what's the other's real
number?

You're right.
Not only that, but the 8:00 Simpsons episode will be "Homer and Marge
Turn a Couple Play". (The Futon Critic also lists episodes for 7 and
7:30, but doesn't say what they are yet.)

The press release for "The Monkey Suit" says HABF11, but its actual
number is HABF14. SNPP has been updated.

Hmm. So, HABF14 on 5/14, and "Couple Play" is HABF16. It's unlikely that
they'd air a new Simpsons at 7:30; if the season ends with HABF14 and 16,
that's 22 episodes, but we're really falling behind with the holdovers.
(Season 16 ended with 15 GABFs aired, but it would have been 16 had the
pope not died.)

The last season with more than 22 episodes was season 10 (if you include
5F20, which I do); is there any particular reason (from the producers,
writers, cast, network) this max has been going so long?

And is there any sign of a "bonus episode" on Wednesday or something
(it's been a while)? Other thoughts?

Here's one: if they don't air any more new episodes this season, and
air only 22 next season, then next year's season finale (which would
be the last episode before the movie) will be number 400.

But as we saw with episode 300, Fox doesn't give a shit about the
episode numbers. They will call "Episode 400" whatever episode they
want, even if it isn't episode 400.
