4/30 - DOUBLE FEATURE
7:00 - Homer's Paternity Coot (HABF03)
A mailman lost for 40 years is found (thanks in part to Marge's
refusal to use a new toll road), along with his 40-year-old bag of
unopened mail, including a letter to Homer's mother which leads him
to believe that Grampa may not be his real father
8:00 - Girls Just Want to Have Sums (HABF12)
Frances McDormand guest voices as Springfield Elementary's new
principal when Skinner is fired (after a sexist remark made at a
performance of "Itchy & Scratchy: The Musical" STOP COMPLAINING
ABOUT THE MUSICAL NUMBERS...where was I? Oh, right, anyway, the new
principal replaces Springfield Elementary with boys-only and girls-
only schools, but when Lisa realizes that the girls aren't really
being taught anything, especially in math, she gets Bart to help her
masquerade as a boy so she can attend the boys' school.
5/7 - DOUBLE FEATURE
7:00 - We're on the Road to D'ohwhere (HABF04)
After a prank involving the school's steam tunnels, Bart gets sent to
a camp in Oregon, but thanks to Bart being on the no-fly list, Homer
has to drive him there; the big seller at Marge's yard sale is the
family supply of expired medications
8:00 - Regarding Margie (HABF13)
When Stan wipes out most of Francine's memory, he tries recreating
events from her past in order to...no, wait, that was an "American
Dad" episode...
When Marge loses most of her memory as a result of inhaling too many
cleaning product fumes while spring cleaning, she forgets that she's
married to Homer, even after Homer's attempts to get her to remember
anything familiar...what, are they that starved for ideas that they're
reworking "American Dad" episodes now?
* 5/14 episode information should be available on Monday
STUFF for "The Wettest Stories Ever Told" (HABF11)
--------------------------------------------------
Written by Jeff Westbrook
Directed by Mike B. Anderson
Blackboard: (none)
Couch: A pair of animated hands finishes a jigsaw puzzle with Homer's
and Maggie's heads switched, then fixes it (repeat of GABF10)
Also Starring: Pamela Hayden, Tress MacNeille, Russi Taylor,
Karl Wiedergott
Overseas Animation: Akom
TV Rating: TV-PG-L
REFERENCES
"The Greatest Story Ever Told" (title)
"The Posiedon Adventure" (Homer's story)
9F03, "The Godfather" (someone says "Now who's being naive?")
"What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas" (the current Las Vegas
tourism slogan, used in Tahiti)
"The Morning After" (Lisa's song uses the same music)
"Earthquake", "The Towering Inferno", "The China Syndrome",
"The Apple Dumpling Gang" (references in Burns's speech)
REVIEW: B - I don't know why, but for some reason, there doesn't seem
to be much story buildup in the anthologies lately; it's more "get
from point A to point B", although since that's pretty much how the
entire movie "The Posiedon Adventure" went, it's hard to do it another
way.
DYN
....the commercials for this episode mentioned the title?
....either Marge has been cured of her seafood allergy, or there's a
new "landlubbers" menu at the Frying Dutchman?
....Database had a peg-leg?
....the "navy recruiting brochure" said "British Navy" instead of
"Royal Navy"?
....the ship in Homer's story was the Neptune, which is the name of the
Roman god whose Greek equivalent is Posiedon?
....Mr. Burns mentions earthquakes, towering infernos, and China
syndromes, all movies made after "The Posiedon Adventure"?
....the song Lisa sang used the music to "The Morning After" (the
Academy Award-winning song from "The Posiedon Adventure")?
GOOFS / FREEZE FRAME / WHATNOT
Witches weren't burned in England, "Monty Python and the Holy Grail"
notwithstanding; usually, they were hanged from trees.
The Union Jacks that the Mayflower and Bounty were flying included the
(red diagonal) Cross of St. Patrick, which wasn't added until 1801.
The giant head statues are on Easter Island, not Tahiti.

Well, with Lisa being a stickler for historical accuracy, you would
expect the Mayflower story to be a little more accurate

"Earthquake", "The Towering Inferno", "The Poseidon Adventure", all
produced by Irwin Allen.

Let's not forget "Lost In Space", "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea",
"The Time Tunnel", "Dark Shadows" and "Batman".

"Dark Shadows" and "Batman" were not Irwin Allen vehicles. And,
Captain Burns (now the show has two captains) didn't refer to these.
Although they could be considered disasters in their own way. Unless
you are in the business of running BIMONSCIFICONs or merchandising.

Don't forget"
"Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World" in the "Bounty"
segment: the shots of Bart on the mast, and the use of Boccherini's music.

I know that. Who said they were, or that he did? I just suggested that
we not forget them.

"Earthquake" wasn't one of his.

As long as we're talking about historical accuracy, the
Puritans DID dress in more than just black and white. Contrary to
popular myth, they never had a problem with colors. And they DID drink
beer. If I remember my history right, they built one of the first
brewery's in North America. Beer was even on the menu at the first
Thanksgiving I believe.

I think you're right. I have not read much about them, but understand that
they were great lovers of life, and their drab clothing was their way of
engaging in simplicity and humility. However, I understand that rather than
fleeing religious persecution as we would understand it, they actually
wanted to practice the more "conservative" aspects of their religion, away
from the more "liberal" elements.
Also, ships didn't carry plain old water. All liquid nourishment was at
least part alcohol (grog = water + rum) for preservative purposes. Plain
water would foul quickly.

Yeah, but the real Bounty mutineers went to Pitcairn island, which did have
giant head statues.

Excellent! A twist at the end. I tip my hat!
LOL!
