He definitely has the acting chops to do it. He's got the "look."
There's one thing about him that will be mentioned over and over again
that will "disqualify" him, but, hey, he's an actor, right??
I think if EON really wanted to cheese people off, they'd have made
Everett Bond and then you'd have a whole cadre of folks boycotting...

At this point, he might be a little older than what they want. By the
time Craig is done, it'll be an academic question. I think he's made a
professional decision not to play straight characters any more anyway
(maybe that's over). Back around Dellamorte Dellamore (Cemetery Man),
I think he would have been fine. I always thought he would have made a
good Simon Templar.

I don't think Everett stands a chance now; he is getting a bit long in
the tooth and, even as a gay man, I have to concede that his, er,
reputation would overshadow the character.
I would like to know, though, what became of his proposed "gay James
Bond" series (which should be more porperly interpretted as "a
espionage genre series with a gay, Bond-like protagonist"). I'm
assuming he couldn't get the requisite financing but I've yet to hear
an official story.

Rupert's first script on the gay Bond series had him fighting an evil
Fashion Designer..... And when Zoolander came out with the same premise,
his story sank......

"GoldenEye" had to be reworked owing to similarities to "True Lies" but
the film eventually got made. So the first script had to be scuttled
.... doesn't quite explain dousing the series.
