Um.. that was the peak of their popularity and sales. How exactly did
that kill their career? Even their following studio album, "Dream
Police" was a hit.

By definition, after the peak, it's all downhill.

As far as the peak of their sales, hmm...did that power ballad they had
in the late 80's sell more?

Actually, "We Built This City" came before "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us
Now". I'd consider that the career killer.

True, it got him exposed, but what are you gonna listen to? That, or
"Lenny"?

LOL. No, but I imagine fans of the Shangri-Las (or 60s pop, in
general) would wince if they heard these versions. (Of course, rock
fans have been wincing at these records for years.)
I hate Deep Purple's versions of Beatles' songs. That doesn't mean
that I have something(/anything?) against The Beatles.

By definition, true, but it's not like THAT SONG killed them off. It
MADE them hit artists for a time. If anything effectively killed their
career, it was the string of crappy albums they put out after "Dream
Police".

Hey, good point, "The Flame" was a pretty huge hit for them some years
later (although they didn't stay popular and in the public eye for very
long afterwards), so it would be even more difficult to say that the
song that made them hit artists also effectively killed their career.

Ok, point of contention here. While that's not much of a Queen album and
didn't boost them further into the realms of superstardom or anything,
they remained a HUGE, HUGE, HUGE band pretty much all over the world
after that.

This is a good point. Hot Space is actually a better indicator of
where there career went. In the US, it pretty much went into the
toilet (Live Aid notwithstanding) and pretty much stayed there until
Wayne's World. In the rest of the world, they became bigger.

I don't know a lot about Queen, but I remember reading somewhere that
they may have "killed their career" when they dressed as housewives for
a video.
