As I don't have a hoard, I don't really know.
I would assume that you wouldn't just go and 'gather' a hoard in a
couple of hours. I think it it would take weeks or even months, but
that is only an opinion.
As for what to put in it... There is the classic stuff like valuables,
shinies, etc. But you could have a hoard of books, video games,
computer software, or anything else you like.

Yep, its completely up to you what you hoard }:=8) Gathering normally
take place over time and really does depend on what you wish to
collect.
For me its books and dragony trinkets and I've used regular shops,
internet shops, car boot sales and eBay to gain pieces for my hoard.
I've been collecting for nearly 15 years now but thankfully I've slowed
down a bit now and I'm more fussy about what I purchase ... at least
until I get a bigger house to hold it all!!

Ask yourself what you like, then start collecting such things. Once you
have even one such thing, you have a hoarde! And once that happens, it
should only get bigger! ^_^

Oh, I'd love to collect swords. But the rest of my family might
disagree... I do like to collect pocketknives, though.

Well, you'll need some dice, various sparklie things, old books, out
of date computer parts, dwagin plushies and nick-nacks, handful of
neat looking rocks, several spindles of old aol cd's, piles of
chocolate, can't have too many puppy dogs or kitty cats or both...
...
There, that should be an admirable start.

Swords? Any specific type, or just anything that catches you eye?
I'm into Medieval European swords and am currently wrestling with the task
of making a waster of an Archer's sword. I want to find a good timber to use
that isn't too heavy and won't smash should I hit somthing.

Yay! *jumps around in happiness* I love them all. Particularly facinated
with things like longbows, crossbows and swords. And the occasional other,
if I come across something I like. Love the whole Medieval scene and do
quite a bit of writing and drawing set in that area.

Yup. That's always a bad sign. Also, you don't want it to start smelling.
Either you need to change your hoard at this point, or buy a peg to put on

My horde is made up of books. Sci-fi and fantasy novels, to be exact.
That's why I jokingly call myself a bookwyrm. I love to stack them
all around me and open random ones at random pages, cuz of course I've
read them all. My mother actually taught me to read with a series of
children's books about a dragon. I wish I could remember what it was
called. If I ever had hatchlings, it would be neat to use the same
books. Whoops, I'm rambling now... sorry.

Neat! I'm a book hoarder as well, but all of mine have been packed into

Including the bit about them being packed into boxes.... v..v
I've got a nice large bookshelf, but when the house was remodeled, I emptied
it of books and during the intervening time, I filled the shelves with various
nicknacks and haven't had the want to move them.

*hopes Nat feels welcome*
*hugs Nat*
*remembers that he forgot to welcome the new person*
mumbles, "welcome nat"
*hands you a welcome present for your new horde: some feather soft
paint brushes and several old fashioned paints in jars with screw on
lids (the very nice artist sort) cadmiums (reds to yellows), titaniums
(black & white), lapis (intense blue), and chromiums (greens to blue,
some purple).
The slightly older indigo blue dragon bows and answers the hoard
question: "Oh, whatever strikes your fancy. I tend to hoard cut gems
and mineral samples. Sometimes I'll even grow crystals myself."
*remembers that he doesn't have a lair Here, and that his hoard is on
some far distant world*

Yay! I'm not alone! Since we remodeled, I still haven't got my bookshelf
back yet!
I'm just trying to remember the blasted name of that book I read. It was
great! *sighs* I'll work it out sooner or later...

You can fit more of everything in that way if everything is hanging at odd
angles...

I think I'm just lazy though. I have a few boxes that I haven't unpacked
since we moved out of a house into a house that we moved out of 3 and half
years ago or so.

: ) I can understand. I think the book is called This Alien Shore, I think,
mind you, and the author's name is on the tip of my tongue... grrr...
confounded things! Oh! Try C.S Friedman. Perhaps.
