I am doing a research paper on Douglas Adams and have to focus on
events in history or family life that affect him and how his work
affected society. Any info would be great. Also do you know where i
could find pictures of his family and maybe audio clips or video clips
of him, i have to make a power point along with the presentation.

Try reading one of his biographies for information on his life. For the
pictures or video, try using Google.

I am currently reading "The Salmon of Doubt" by DNA. It is a
compilation of many of his writtings and gives alot of insight into the
man. For instance he mentions how Wodehouse has influenced himonp.P.66
OF ''Salmon....." I hope this helps I am currently working on alot of
assignments, report essays and they are all due within the first two
weeks of may( so I empathize with you). Good luck, and..." so long and
thanks for all the fish..."DNA

Try the extras on DVDs like The BCB HItchhikers Guide series or the Dr
Who Pyramids of Mars DVD, they both have quite a bit of Douglas footage
and insights.

If you need the hardcore details about Douglas Adams life, the biography
to get is M.J. Simpson's "Hitchhiker - a Biography of Douglas Adams."
All the details you ever wanted to know and more!
Slightly less elaborate but with some more personal touches from family
and friends is Nick Webb's "Wish you were here." That's also a good book
for pictures of friends and family.
Finally, the more accessible and much shorter biography is "Don't Panic"
by Neil Gaiman (later editions with a few extra updates), probably the
funniest read of the biographies.
Someone already suggested "The Salmon of Doubt" for quite a few articles
and interviews that could be of interest. Few of them are not available
somewhere on the net, but of course it's easier to have them collected
in one place.
If you need more, and would like some audio interviews for your
presentation, the audio book "Douglas Adams's Guide to "The Hitchhiker's
Guide to the Galaxy" from BBC contains some interesting interviews.
Well, that should be enough to get going. Of to the library with you :-)

I would love to suggest some more sources for your biography of DNA,
but they've all been suggested already and besides...
....I might cry...
