Why hello there, Elliott. I don't believe we've met before. I'm Gregory

fictitious company that produces the best pillows and manchester the

Here, have a pillow.

And welcome back, person whom I know nothing of.

I reserve my really immature responses for people I know. But, as an

Really? Oh, whoops. I'd just like to clarify that that *did not*

know people who have thought that but collapsed within minutes of

That's what we in the real world (the part that doesn't post through

Actually, I'd first just used google groups a bit - I decided to search

set up usenet access on my mail programme, and fiddling through the

As far as I recall, Tian's overthrown statue was obviously a fake, and

I exist in my own nation comprised of the space immediatly surrounding
my body. It is called Flark. I am the only citizen, so it's communist,
sharing the resources evenly among one person. The national anthem
can't be sung in public because it contains cursing and explosions. The
national animal is Isacc Asimov in a border collie costume. The
national drink is whatever you can mix by adding together the last
drops in the bottom of evrery bottle in the house. The flag has a
picture of a half t-rex/half-mermaid creature known as a curlew-jawed
morymid surrounded by the shapes in Lucky Charms: heart stars
horseshoes and so forth. Mongooses are strictly forbidden. The national
language varies person to person, with each individual speaking a
language known only to them. So, no one expect me knows what the hell
I'm talking about. If you wish to visit Flark, you are required to
allow me to administer a series of painful vaccinations, and once
touring in Flark, are required to leave the oxygen alone, as it is
endangered and so only the natives are permitted to harm it.

I think watson is the one to direct our anger at! The oldest crosspost
in Google Groups is:

I thought we had been annoying each-other newsgroups much longer!

Unfortunately, due to a few misplaced remarks about nuclear energy, it
was shortly after Tian's appointment nuled out of existence by Uncle
Lloyd who needed to test his new nuclear arsenal.

Never provoke a nuclear physicist...

*sigh* It's insane how many times I have had to explain this to various
people.

Mongoose and goose have no shared etymological origin. Goose comes from
the Old English "gos", meaning fool. Mongoose comes from the word
"mangus" which is from the Marathi language, a variation of Indian (an
in, from India). They aren't pluralized the same because they have
different roots, and it is pure chance that they sound the same. Booth
and tooth sound the same, butyou don't pluralize booth as beeth just
because it's correct for tooth, do you? No. Likewise goose and
mongoose.

(This is the part where you ask why I know so much about mongooses, and
I say, "You have to know these things when you're king of the Britons."
and cross the bridge.)

Not to be confused with an Indian from Indiana.

I never figured out how they decided that the plural if Indian was
Hoosiers...
