Does anyone have any thoughts on what her actual theories might have
been??
I am rather curious...

Well, it's obvious, of course:
The true way to happiness is traveling and seeing the world! Only one
question remained:
How many roads must a man walk down?

I would have thought her answer something along the lines of: "Have a
towel."
Maybe what the world needs is mass distribution of towels. Towels for
every occasion. I'd be happy if I had a casual towel, a work towel, a
studying towel and even an internet towel. I'd take one around, too, if
it weren't for the stares of strangers.

Stares of strangers be damned! I carry my trusty towel with the H2G2
logo on it and the picture of the galaxy with a "Property Of Zaphod"
stamp beside it. And of course, the words "don't panic". I carry it in
the front pocket of the messenger bag I keep enough things to live off
in, and which I always have with me. Other prominent items in this bag
are, in order of appearance, a roll of duct tape, a pair of scissors, a
thermos of tea, a hammer, and several variations on a screwdriver. But
the towel in particular has /actually/ come in handy a score of times.
And not just to dry something with. The only thing that even approaches
it is the duct tape.

I didn't have a screwdriver in my car in Tulare and I needed one.
Now that you mention it, I should put one of the ones I got at the
trade show I went to a couple of weeks ago out there. Never seem
to need a hammer. I'm thinking I should get a roll of duct tape to
carry around. Next time I'm in the store. I wish they had small ones...

If you're in Australia, tomorrow. If you're traveling at near-light
speed, yesterday. If you're in orbit, about two minutes ago. If you're
near a black hole, fifty years from now. If you're at the center of the
universe, never.

You wouldn't just see the world. You'd see life, death, joy, sadness,
children growing up, children being slaughtered... I'm sure you would
see not just the world, but also the happiness and suffering that goes
on all around it. That is what I meant.

Asda is the name of a large supermarket chain in Britain.
Waitrose is the name of another.

Thanks Kare for that; it is probably the most sensible
answer...However..
The question really is: Why can't everyone be nice to each other for a
change...and how can the world be made a good and happy place (without
anyone having to be nailed to a tree!)??
The only thing a towel will do, is perhaps mop your brow while you try
and figure this one out!!

Now, we thought of that, but it doesn't fit the answer, see?

Doesn't work!

Definitely not the _only_ thing. You wouldn't believe how useful a towel
is for lots of things! For instance my wife is currently occupying a
room which for no obvious reason has no curtains. She wouldn't get any
sleep at all if it wasn't for her towel!

Obviously. I'm a Victorian. Originally from the country (the good,
suburb-esque bits, of course), but I'm in Melbourne at the moment. But
enough rambling from me.
And that existentialist statement of yours is just... mind-boggling.

You poor thing coming from Victoria, I shall forgive you. Actually I
lied about Australia being the centre of the universe.
Broadmeadows is the closet anyone can get to the centre of the
universe, but of course it all depends on what reality you are in, and
what dimension of the universe you currently inhabit. As for me I am
thinking of holidaying 'Somewhere in the vacinity of Beetleguise"'(DNA)
p.s Rambling is good, sometimes it is important to rest the brain of
major brain strain activities, such as thinking.
