I liked it, especially the more detailed passages with Sidious. You
get a good idea of his machinations. Luceno always does decent work.

Well, since its coming out in paperback in June, after which you should
be able to pick it up used for a couple of bucks, its hardly a huge
waste of money. The bigger waste will be the time it takes to read it.
The book is mostly NOT about Vader, but a few masterless padawan, new
characters introduced so Vader can hack them down. You learn
absolutely nothing new about Vader. Luceno claims Vader makes a major
breakthrough in understanding the darkside. Unfortunately, we're never
shown why, how, or what that possibly means. Truly one of the more
horrendous recent publishing events from Del Rey. Read a summary on a
website and save yourself time AND money.

I didn't think it was a total waste, I actually enjoyed the parts dealing
with the emperor particularly the part where Vader sort of confronts him on
his promises.

But that's what - one scene?
I forgot to mention in my previous post that the book has no story.

One where Vader confronts Sidious
About 4 or so where you get a better understanding of Palpatine.

That is true. Any part of the book that doesn't deal with Palpatine or some
of Anakin's issue just couldn't keep my attention or caring.

I have no idea about the schedules for Indian publishers. Who handles
SW properties in India, btw? Are they published in languages other
than English? Do they feature original cover art?

if you are talkin about distributors, i don't know. and no way are they
published in other languages!!!!!and they feature the same cover art as
the american ones.
anyway, the latest book that has released here is the ROTS
novelization. soooooooooo, i guess i'll have to wait till december this
year for Dark Lord.

You might do a little research and find out. They'd be much better
able to tell you their distribution schedule.

Are they direct American imports? Or are they UK/EU versions? Did
they import only paperbacks, or hardbacks as well?

Ok, then here's what you can do to find out. Call the distributor and
ask. Or . . .
You said Revenge of the Sith was just released, presumably in
paperback. Go to amazon.com and look up the Revenge of the Sith
(paperback edition). You'll find a date of publication. You shold
then know how long it took for the book to be shipped to India and make
its way to your local bookstore.
Then while still at amazon.com, look up Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth
Vader (paperback) and find the date of publication.
Voila!

Thanks a lot. The ROTS paperback was released in October 2005 so ,
after doing the math,Dark Lord paperback will be in India nearabout
what I predicted, December-January. so, i keep waiting, or i download.
though reading a downloaded book isn't 0.01% of the fun in reading an
original book.

Can't you order from Amazon UK or even US? How about a book seller in
Singapore or HK? If you'd like to do a trade for dvd's, maybe we can
work something out. I'm a huge Bollywood fan but haven't seen anything
that's been released in the last year or so.

Hey , that's cool!!! but the problem is, I don't like Bollywood myself
and I don't have any Hindi DVDs. But thanks for the offer, it's really
nice of you.
anyway, i'm not in THAT big a hurry to get the book, so i'll wait it
out.
