I have been watching some Simpsons from the TV and must congratulate whoever
cuts the show down for tv to fit in the adverts, they unerringly manage to
cut the best bits.
So far I have three examples:
1) The "you don't make friends with salad" conga type chant from Lisa the
vegitarian was cut down so you don't get the 'punchline' or Marge (who was
Lisa's only support on this issue) also joining the line with Homer and
Bart.
2) In the Mexican insanity chile peppers one, they have cut out Barney's
looped burp.
3) In Guess who's coming to criticise dinner they cut out home getting his
come uppance during the closing credits (ok I might be wrong about this it
might just be the version I watched was cut short when taped from the tv )
Anyhow 1 and 2 show a staggering lack of a sense of humour, has anyone
noticed any other gems that have been cut out?

Sometimes I wonder if the writers don't say, "they're going to cut out X
minutes anyway, let's give them this..." Like the 'rake' scene in the Lake
Terror show. We know from the DVD commentaries that some of the scripts are
so bare that they can't even fill up the 22 minutes, so you get those crazy
"can't win friends with salad" cuts.

Yeah, but there's been a lot of cases on the DVDs were something that
was cut from syndication is mentioned and many of the
writers/producers/whoever's in the booth seems shocked that 'x' was
cut instead of something else, and mention that they have no control
over what gets cut. I think most of the time they're probably as
shocked or confused as we are.
