Need to go on more than that. There's a lot of things being covered
up. Top of screen, middle, bottom? Left, center, right?

Its a list of the chapter titles for HBP
If you take a screen snapshot of the page before all the rest of the
display updates, you can post it to an image editor and then read it.
fine..

Picky picky
Sorry but
You'll not make me feel insensetive to his condition..
several years ago, before I retired.
I reworked 7 computers with dual screens for use at the reading house
for the blind.(one screen for the typist and the other for the reader in
the sound booth.)
also produced or modified thousands of control knobs for major appliances
with Braille markings/printing for use in the homes of visually impaired
owners.
( those knobs were supplied FREE of charge by the manufacter)
now back to lurking, where I should have stayed..

No, we do not. We will not radicalize this newsgroup to appease you pinko

Hmmm... I was going to say he (tamar) wasn't trying to, but then I
reread what you wrote... which is the opposite of what i though you said.
I don't think Tamar was trying to sensitize or desensitize you, I
think he was trying to point out that Richard *wouldn't* be able to read
from an image program.... but then I'm not tamar, so I can't speak for
him or his intent.... and i know he certainly doesn't have a problem
speaking for hiself.
In any case, someone else answered that it was a list of chapters,
which i think is available elsewhere on the text only site.
Richard (the blind typer), if you can't find a list on the text
version let me know and i'll do a screenshot and transcribe it for
you.

And you know of a program that can turn a grafic picture in to a text file?
Because if you know one that works so I can have my screen reader tell me
what is in a bit map or gif file I really would like to know.
And I have tryied the page text readers. they get half the letters wrong and
I have to get some one to correct it at ten dollers an hour.

Once you found where to ask. The problum is that most new things are done
with the flush control panals these days. Tho after I told the locol store
why I wanted the only micro wave with a turn nob they have always had one
modle that works that way. I know the flush buttons are easyer to clean but
with the nob I can just put a bump sticky button at the minute spot and at a
few other key points and it is use able.

But it is hard to guess if you found the same thing on both sights when you
don't know what the other says.
I run into diffrences in the two sights when I get my brother to see what is
going on in the main sight. there are more fun and games on the full sight
where there are missing on the text only.

Thanks for the offer. But I don't realy need it. I was woundering if it
might have anything to do with the next book. But as it is for the last book
and I have two audio copies of it I don't need you to transcribe it.
It was that I ran across one sight years ago where the writer left clues as
to how far he was done. I not surprised that this is not the case.
But sooner or later I think JKR will give out some of the chapter titals.

Its the system they used to transcribe books into recordings.
the typist reads the book, and types the text into the computer
a second screen within the recording booth, the person in the booth
reads the text on the screen and records the book to tape.
by doing that way they remove any external sounds, IE: page turning,
sounds of keyboard what ever.
Its been a few years since I worked with the blind school and the
recording house.. they may have inproved the system since then.

I understand. It is much the same other then the ones I have been to are
now starting with word files gotten from the publishers. Though the one I
saw went over the books and thought about what they would add in. They
don't change the text. they decide waht if any word puns they see as
inportant. And if they are going to explain any pictures in the book. But
then the place I was at did mainly colege text books.

I never heard of that one. But then I mainly used the deck talk stuff
before the people at GW-micro came up with a vertion of windoweyes that
didn't need any fancy speach parts added to the computer.
I am rather glad that so many people play computer games. With all the new
sound cards they came up for playing games the speach programs now don't
need hard to find cards. My cost of a computer for my screen reader dropped
by one half when that happend.
Did you ever see one of the page things that is made of pins? it is kind of
like brail but it does a page wide set of pins and can be set to show line
art. I never could come up with the cash to take one home. But I have
played with one or two at tech demos.
