4/16 - The Last of the Red Hat Mamas (GABF22)
When Marge is snubbed by her friends after an incident at the Mayor's
Easter egg hunt (involving Homer and a man in a bunny costume), she
makes friends with the Cheery Red Tomatoes, a group of older women who
spend their time doing things like skydiving, talking about their
husbands...oh, and did I mention stealing from Mr. Burns?; Lisa needs
to learn Italian to qualify for a summer program in Italy, so she
hires a tutor - unaware that it's Milhouse
4/23 - The Wettest Stories Ever Told (HABF11)
Another anthology show, this time with a nautical theme; Lisa's
version of the Mayflower, Bart with mutiny in Tahiti, and Homer on
capsizing cruise ships
4/30 - DOUBLE FEATURE
7:00 - Homer's Paternity Coot
A mailman lost for 40 years is found (thanks in part to Marge's
refusal to use a new toll road), along with his 40-year-old bag of
unopened mail, including a letter to Homer's mother which leads him
to believe that Grampa may not be his real father
8:00 - Girls Just Want to Have Sums (HABF12)
Frances McDormand guest voices as Springfield Elementary's new
principal when Skinner is fired (after a sexist remark made at a
performance of "Itchy & Scratchy: The Musical" STOP COMPLAINING
ABOUT THE MUSICAL NUMBERS...where was I? Oh, right, anyway, the new
principal replaces Springfield Elementary with boys-only and girls-
only schools, but when Lisa realizes that the girls aren't really
being taught anything, especially in math, she gets Bart to help her
masquerade as a boy so she can attend the boys' school.
STUFF for "Kiss Kiss Bang Bangalore" (HABF10)
---------------------------------------------
Written by Dan Castellaneta & Deb Lacusta
Directed by Mark Kirkland
Blackboard: none
Couch: two (animated) hands deal cards onto the couch (repeat of
HABF02)
Special Guest Voice: Richard Dean Anderson
Also Starring: Pamela Hayden, Tress MacNeille, Meher Tatna,
Karl Wiedergott
Overseas Animation: Rough Draft
TV Rating: TV-PG
REVIEW: B-plus - this has all the makings of a "meh" episode,
especially with the two distinct subplots, but for some reason, I
found the MacGyver stuff funny (and the India stuff wasn't bad
either).
REFERENCES
"Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang" (title)
"MacGyver" (well, duh)
"Stargate SG-1" (the convention)
"The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson" (Homer as Karnak)
"Apocalypse Now" (the scene with the boat and Homer as God)
8F20 ("MacGyver" plays an important part in the plot)
1F10 (Homer is in India)
5F04 (an arranged marriage is mentioned)
DYN
....Marge says that Lee Iacocca called the book "definitely...useful"?
....it took 65 hours to fly to India? (I guess Mr. Burns got Homer the
cheapest fare rather than the quickest)
....Ling makes an appearance?
....in the establishing shot of BNPP, a cow moo is heard instead of a
crow call?
....according to Moe, Duff Beer is German?
....Apu's cousin was providing technical support without reading from a
script? (Seriously, everybody I know who has had to call technical
support about an electronics problem reaches somebody who starts by
going through a script of asking you to do 256 things that you have
done already or you wouldn't be calling them in the first place)
....Carl had four arms in the ending number?
GOOFS / FREEZE FRAME / WHATNOT
Bart knows what "MacGyver" is - when it was starting, he realized that
Selma was going to be killed in one hour in "Black Widower".
Maggie was not with the others when they got off the boat, so how did
she get into the musical number at the end?

Nor were Patty & Selma, yet they were in the musical number.
Get this, the show is a comedy, an off the wall comedy, where reality
means nothing, so.. yeah. Sorry if I sound like a jerk, it's just
frustrating reading all the reviews on this board with critics saying
things like "blah blah, blah, blah" was unrealistic, or "there should
have been more character development", or "that ending made no sense".
Do you think that the writers are looking to make sense? Karl had four
arms for god's sake. It isn't supposed to make sense, or move you to
tears, or be realistic, it is supposed to be hilarious, in which case it
has consistently been successful.

There's another reference you could add to the capsule and that
everyone seems to have missed (unless I'm wrong)
Homer as a "god" with red paint on his head and all the indians
prostrating themselves before him was a parody of Mola Ram (the bad
guy) in Indiana Jones and the temple of doom.
By the way Don Del Grande, did you get my email ?

But they were in their apartment - not in India.
Then again, perhaps I should have listed it as a DYN instead of a
goof; it's about as much a "goof" as Carl's four arms.

I'd have to look at the episode again to be sure, but Lenny and Homer also
noticed this, and seemed to be shocked by it.
