Yes, Simo had details on Planet Magrathea. Check if they're still there.

It's repeated on ITV2 tomorrow (Saturday 23rd) at 17:50.

Channel 4 have their own feature, being shown next Saturday (30th) at
11:40am and repeated at various times on E4.

Did you catch it this time? I did, there were some interesting and
generally positive things in between the chit chat on the blue (not red)
carpet.

Garth Jennings made me feel very good about the film - he is obviously a
huge fan and is *very* aware that it must be done "properly". I got the
impression that one of the big deciding factors in him taking it on was
that if he didn't say yes, they might get someone to do it who didn't
care as much. So at least we can be sure that he's put his heart and
soul into the project, and I think he'll be genuinely devastated if it
gets a poor reception from fans.

There were also a couple of clips that I hadn't seen before - not new
stuff this time but examples of familiar material, which brough a huge
grin to my face. The Vogon guard delivering the immortal "Resistance is
useless" line was one, and Marvin's first scene was the other, where he
gives the whole "Here I am, brain the size of a planet, and they ask me
to take you up to the bridge. Call that job satisfaction, coz I don't"
speech, which I think Alan Rickman carried off brilliantly.

Just watched it....All in all, I enjoyed it....I liked Steven Fry's
comments, and the footage pleased me no end....

However, one thing bothered me....

Of all the people they could have asked to present the show, to stand
out there in the street with a microphone asking questions of the
stars.....Why couldn't they have chosen someone who sounds like she's
read at least one of the books, or watched the TV shows, or heard even
part of one of the radio episodes?.....

Whoever that bint was, sounded like she was floundering, and had no idea
of what she was asking and why she was asking the questions....

It sounded like the director just said to her, "Look, if you get stuck,
ask them where their towel is, or what the meaning of life is".....

She referred to Martin Freeman as "The Human in the film"....Which
human?...There's two of them....
She repeatedly referred to the Vogons as "Those big weird 7 foot tall
aliens"....
She referred to Sam Rockwell as "The star of the movie", as if everyone
else is just a supporting character....

All in all, an enjoyable programme, slightly marred by a very
un-informed presenter....

By the way, does anbody know if they've included the Dentrassi in this
film?....

Yup, I agree. The bint was Jenny Falconer, and she does all the movie
premier stuff for ITV. She's normally OK, but in this case she was
clearly uninformed and unprepared.

Not sure - I think they've been dropped. They were never really vital
to the story anyway.

With a caveat.
If you go expecting a movie version of the radioseries, book, TV
series, game, etc, you will be disappointed.
If you accept:
1. A lot of stuff has had to be left out to keep it short.
2. Things have been changed to widen the audience appeal
3. Things have been changed because, I guess, Douglas wanted to put in
fresh ideas. Some of them work, some of them don't
4. It is primarily a VISUAL product, not a verbal one.
5. It is the first book it specifically contradicts - don't expect
restaurants, B Arks or Nat King Cole.

You will enjoy it

For "classic" Hitchhiker fans the Q4th and Q5th radio series look
feckin' awesome!

Milliways wasn't in the first book anyway, unless you count the brief
reference right at the very very end.

Neither was the B Ark for that matter.

And Nay King Cole? Do you mean Louis Armstrong maybe? ;-)

Not exactly.

You remember how in the first series, they meet these super-evolutionary
beings. Then in the record release, they find Hotblack Desiato instead,
and again on the TV series...

You remember how at the end of the second radio series, Arthur's just
stolen the Heart of Gold, then that doesn't happen in the books, and in
fact the whole second series doesn't happen in the books (just about), and
the third starts off with Arthur and Ford still on prehistoric Earth...

Well, the same writer was behind much of the film, and he had the same
regard for consistency I'd gather...
