how good do you think it'll be. I remember hearing that F & E were
gonna be part of it before the tour was postponed last year. They
don't seem to be a part of it now...that lessened my interest.

I received two tickets
as a present
for the opening show in Amsterdam.
but without F&E....
I think I'll go.
Mr Atmosphere Murphy Brock alone is worthwhile.

That increased my interest, but they're down to only back
of the balcony $40 seats (plus $10 "convenience charge")
seats in Boston. I think I'll go see Ike and PO instead.

Note that Bozzio will not be present at some of the ZPZ-dates.

The closest ZPZ show for me is Toronto, but I can't go that day. So
its off to Philly for me - even with the Ticketmaster extortion.
PO with Ike in Rochester next month and then the Voice of Cheez in
Buffalo 3 days later. That makes 3 different performances of FZ music
in a month's span. Hard to believe.

tickets for the detroit show went on sale at noon, on saturday. the
best i could come up with was row 14, seats 1 and 2 (right on the
center aisle). not too bad, i suppose, but who got the 1st 13 rows? i'm
really looking forward to this. i probably won't get to the p/o show in
may, so this will have to be my fix for the year. i've never seen vai
or bozzio before so this should be a real treat.

Bozzio might not play all shows but IMO he's the second greatest
drummer to ever live next to Buddy Rich.....I've seen him play about a
dzen times and he never failed to leave he in just utter awe.

As of yesterday TB's own website did not confirm his presence at any of
the US shows.
Pity! I hope it's wrong and he at least makes the last show in SF
which I hope to attend. Coming back home for Terry and all that.

According to a friend of TB, Bozzio sent the ZFT a list of dates on
which he can _not_ play due to other obligations. The ZFT (or the
ZPZ-manager, who ever that is) did misunderstand that and booked
concerts exactly on these dates. So hold your thumbs that they can work
that out.

Every Zappa show I saw confounded expectations. In other words he
never played all my favorite tunes. At the '80 shows about 90% of the
tunes hadn't been released. And I got really sick of hearing Bobby
Brown, Camarillo, Dyna-Moe. In the midst of all of this he would often
play Black Napkins and some other killer tunes.
I have also seen Banned from Utopia a few times, Seattle Symphony
Tribute, and P/O a handful of times. None of them really give you the
"Frank" experience, because simply, FZ ain't there. Does it mean I
didn't dash off and grab my tix for the SF show this morning while the
kids were setting the house on fire? NO WAY!

Let us not speak slightingly of the great man.
The available evidence is that the only people he was disagreeable with
were his employees and Dusty Springfield.
Everything else I've heard about him is praiseworthy.

I agree but let us not forget the time he assulted that 13 year old for
not buying his record!
AP: Minnesota Star: Mpls, Buddy not Rich today--Jazz drummer Buddy Rich
seen here punching a small child in the chest for not buying his latest
big band album. "Beatles shmeatles!" He was heard yelling at the 13
year old Beatles fan that brought him to tears. After repeatedly
telling the boy to stop he hauled off and punched the boy who flew 5 ft.
into the bargin bin at Raydot Records. The child was given a free 45rpm
of the latest Beach Boys record. No charges were filed.

For what it's worth, BR was great friends with Johnny
Carson, and the day BR died was one of the very few
times that Johnny called off a taping of the Tonight Show
when he was actually scheduled to work (rather than being
on one of his MANY vacations).
