So here is where we are now:
Dumbledore explains to Harry what a horcrux is (a portion of one's
soul) and that it takes a killing/murder to be able to produce a
horcrux;
Dumbledore and Harry discuss the possible list of horcruxes that
Voldemort may have created. They agree that Voldy may have created up
to seven horcruxes, and that these portions of Voldy's soul are most
likely held in objects that had significance to Voldemort. As Voldy
held the founders of Hogwarts in high esteem it is likely that the
objects that hold pieces of Voldy's soul are resting in relics left by
the founders of Hogwarts... and maybe in Hogwarts itself.
FYI - The ring of Slytherin which was a horcrux that Dumbledore
neutralized (and maybe suffered his withered hand in the process) was
a powerful relic of one of the founders.
Dumbledore and Harry agree that one of these relics was the diary of
Tom Riddle which Harry found and destroyed in Book 2.
In Book 6 (the Half Blood Prince) Harry and Dumbledore returned from a
journey to wipe out a horcrux of Voldemort's, only to find out that
someone with the initials AB beat them to it (and AB expects to be
dead by the time that Voldy discovers the horcrux has been
eliminated);
Snape has revealed his true colors by killing Dumbledore, thus
aligning himself with Voldemort;
Draco Malfoy was under orders from Voldemort to kill Dumbledore but
failed and Snape stepped in to finish the job - at the same time
completing his 'unbreakable' vow to Draco's mother;
Before Dumbledore is killed by Snape, he and Harry talk about the
horcruxes. There are the relics of Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw which
have yet to be revealed (did they fall into the hands of Tom Riddle?)
and the only 'known' relic of Gryffendor is the sword - which resides
in the office of the headmaster/headmistress of Hogwarts.
Let's approach this like CSI - looking at the evidence that is
available to us.

RAB, most likely Sirius' dead little brother.

well that's debatable. But that is certainly what JKR wants us to
think.

Well Godric's Hollow could have had a Gryffindor relic in it, but then
you could think AD would have known about it. Someone suggested and i
agree that Ravenclaw's tiara is a strong possibility -it was in the
possession of Molly's great aunt Muriel because Molly's maiden name is
Prewett and the Black family showed the Prewett crest had a raven.

JKR has revealed that Tom Riddle stole one of Hufflepuff's known relics
- the golden cup with the badger engraved upon it. (HBP, Ch. 20 - Lord
Voldemort's Request, pg. 438)

AHHH! I'm seeing imaginary R's in front of initials. AHHHH!

Accurate info. You missed the R in RAB. You're too convinced of
Snape's betrayal. You're not considering Nagini.

I don't know what this newsgroup thinks, but I am 99.9% sure that DD is
really dead. Rowling wrote that in such books you have to kill people
like DD to leave Harry alone in final book. Also, if DD isn't really
dead - why Sirius can be really dead and never mentioned in book 6? I
would bet at rate 10:1 that DD is dead if such bet could be arranged.
I am also 95% sure that Snape really killed DD (and meant to kill him,
not to do something 'good') - through I am not so sure that Snape will
not play some positive role in Book 7. But even evil people can play
positive role in right circumstances.

Most people in this newsgroup thinks that DD is really dead and that Snape
really killed him.
The "divide" is whether Snape is evil.
1. Snape is evil because he killed DD because he is either on LV side or his
own.
2. Snape is not evil. Snape kill DD because DD ordered him to... most likely
so Snape would not have to break the unbreakable vow.
There was someone who is doing a great job of keeping track but I think it's
been 60 to 75 percent "Snape is not evil".

Erm. No. The divide is whether Snape is Dumbledore's man or
Voldemort's. I, for example, consider the way he treats students to
qualify him for thoroughly evil, but I think he's probably an evil that
serves Dumbledore.

If you define evil as being a jerk I think 100% would say that Snape is
evil.

Not even then, but it's moot. I think very few people would define
merely "being a jerk" as evil.
More, however, would define "being a sadistic bully who abuses children
for fun" as evil.

you would be surprised, there are some who think that Snape has a heart
of gold and only has to pretend to be mean in order to keep the
Sytherin kiddies (and therefore their parents) sweet. If JKR did this,
I would burn the books.

What is the percent of people that think snape is on his own side?
Is it the same that think snape is evil?

Blon, just as an fyi, Hpana.com's survey "evil or not" is running
67%-32% in favor of "not".

Thanks Cassie, that's very interesting.
Did Hpana.com ever survey the age range of their readers?

As far as I know, they didn't. Just as my own opinion, though, from
reading some of the posts, I get the feeling that the majority of their
forum might be younger than the people on afhp.
