OKAY -after Harry gets rid of Riddle and becomes of age he will be a
mighty rich man (Both Sirius' and James' fortunes). Will he use the
money to fix up 12 gp - or will he come up with a new residence?

What are you talking about? Harry already has that money in his vault.
And he definitely won't live in Grimmauld Place.

Yes - Harry is indeed wealthy - but he is not of AGE to make the
decisions. WHen Harry comes of AGE - he will be mighty rich. After he
gets rid of RIddle - he will need a place to live happily ever after at.
He is the "lord" of the Black mansion. His parents house is GONE in the
dust. He will probably not live with the Dursleys - and understatement
if you ask me.
WHy not fix up 12 GP - it is already a wizarding residence.?

Harry doesn't want his place because Sirius hated it and was the last
place he lived before he died. I rather think he some how will rebuild
the place at Godric Hollow and live there with Ro.. I mean, Ginny.

If he is dead he will have a hard time living at G.P.
But, I think he will live, have a productive quiddich career and then
come back to live at Hogwarts as defense against the dark arts teacher
(unless Snape has it).
Or, better yet, move next door to the Dursleys. They would love to
have Harry and Ginny and their children as neighbors...

Grimmauld Place is a great bolt-hole - it's hidden by a permanet Fidelius
Charm. But nobody who isn't already able to get in will ever be able to
get in, unless someone finds out how to break a Fidelius Charm that is
permanently sealed by the death of the Secret Keeper. He'd never be
able to have new visitors. Eventually, if the spell isn't broken, all
the people who can get in will die, and it will become an inaccessible
ruin. If Harry is going to have a comparatively normal life as a wizard,
he'll want a place where he can invite new friends over for dinner.
And anyway, Grimmauld Place is in a bad neighborhood. He might be able
to cast a protective spell so that his old friends wouldn't get mugged
on the way over, but it would be annoying to have to walk through the
area every time he left the house.
I wonder... what if Kreacher manages to let some DEs in somehow,
Fidelius or no Fidelius? If the house is demolished in a magical battle,
would anyone in the muggle neighborhood hear anything as long as no
gas mains are involved?

New home. He hates that house. I hope he gives it to Lupin. Lupin
could use a permanent residence. I'd imagine his problem prevents
usual neighborhood/apartment admittance.

Years of minor criminals. They grew soft without a real challenge.

That's easy. THey had the support of the whole MOM before. Until THe

He's already mighty rich. He has unlimited access to the money in his
vault. In POA he had to excercise self-control because of all the
things he wanted to buy in Diagon Alley, but was afraid he'd spend all
his money. He probably could have sold Grimmauld Place in HBP if he
wanted. You are attributing real world actions to the wizarding world,
which is illogical since we know that many things are different in the
wizarding world.
After he

Assuming he lives.
>

Because it's a reminder of Sirius. Sirius hated the house. It
represents all that Harry opposes. There is no way he'd keep it. Have
you even read the books? He pretty much made it clear at the beginning
of HBP he wants nothing to do with the house.

I doubt even Lupin wants that house. It's not like Lupin doesn't have a
house at all: he must have lived somewhere before PoA.

I wonder if he does; have a permanent residence I mean. I know that 12
GP isn't exactly ideal, but shall we say that its a far cry from the
Shrieking Shack? Seriously though, we know that Lupin always appears
haggard and it is often stated how thin he is and how ragged his robes
are. Since he has a difficult time holding down a job due to his
"condition" I don't think it is very likely that he does have a house.
This thread reminded of that conversation that Harry had with Lupin at
the Weasleys about living among other werewolves as DD's spy.
"I bear the unmistakable signs of having tried to live among
wizards, you see, whereas they have shunned normal society and live on
the margins, stealing -- and sometimes killing -- to eat." (HBP, Ch.
16 - A Very Frosty Christmas, pg. 334)
I know that this quote doesn't really say a lot, but it is clear that
Lupin doesn't normally live among werewolves. But then from POA, we
know that he isn't readily accepted in the among wizards either, so IMO
he must be living a rather transitory existence and would likely be
grateful for a place to stay. Though I'm not sure it would be safe, as
I don't trust Snape...of course.

I would imagine that any Magic person has a problem in their
neighborhood. Imagine a Bludger coming through YOUR front window. WHat
would you say?

If he does not wind up with DD's or a famly maner of the poters I would
bet on him doing a place of his own rather then deal with the GM one.

Because he does not like the place.
We don't know that his parents place is gone. we know that the place they
where hideing in is gone or was damaged. he may want to rebuild there. or
there could be a house elf trying to put it back together. Who knows.
Tho I rather like the idea of him getting a place of his own and doing it his
own way.

The charm will break when the order is no more. I think that after V dies the

But he could apperat or use a broom from an upper windo.
Tho I still don't think he would stay there. With money he would most likely
get a place of his own. the question is where. Near ron's parents?
Hogsmead? Kind of depends on how many people he is trying to avoid.
Rebuilding in the hollow is my bet.

go to the hollow or maybe near Ron's new place.

It's the skill of the de's that are left. also they are useing a set of
spells that are hard to stop. But the level of spells that the auras used
back then where on the same level as the de's. so far that level of spells
are out.
But the main thing is that the DE's have been setting up for a year to go
on the attack while most of the auras have been following DD and others
trying to get dirt on them. This always gives the advantage to the side
getting ready for the main fight.

Yes, but squalor and poverty seem most likely. Here, he has a big old
house, and only one annoying painting.

Well look at Hogwarts. He obviously took the job because that's where
hew as happiest, having found friends and a mostly normal life. Then
Snape ruins it out of insane vengeance. Plus, there's James' son
Harry to meet and teach and guide, and lore into trouble with a
magical map.

DENNIS! (The Menance, not Creevy.)

Harry seemed to find the Creevy brothers menacing enough, though more
Colin than Dennis.

Lupin's shabby clothes is another thing that doesn't make sense. He
could simply make his own clothes with magic. Similarly, the Weeslys
could make as nice of a house as they want.

Magicla garments and such don't last long, like leprechaun gold. JK
had him do that, and the eighth book will Be Harry Potter's Author And
The Trial Of Corrupting Our Youth With Porn.
Another thought of mine, leave the house to the Weasely's, who clearly
need a bigger one. And Kracher, as Molly always wanted a House Elf.

?
DD is dead - can't really live with him.
THere are no Potters left - can't live with them.

Just because he is dead does not mean he had no house. I was referring to
the thought that DD might leave most of his stuff to Harry.
> THere are no Potters left - can't live with them.
But he could take up liveing in a famly manor if there is one that Harry has
not been told about or he could rebuild where his parents died.
Some people do that sort of thing. Liveing near the graves.
