Either you're from somewhere at least 9 hours ahead of GMT, or you're
a day early with that "news".
(Then again, I wouldn't put it past Fox and the Simpsons staff to make
an "April Fool" trailer and actually show it in theaters.)

If they don't pay the leaving town tax, the movie will never be
finished.

Yes, you got me... their is no movie trailer I made it up... and it
doesn't come out 7/27/07 either. It's actually just a Superman
trailer.. boy, if you fell for it though, it would of been hilarous.
It would be cool though if they put it on right after the Garfield 2
trailer though. Following anything that crappy is bound to make your
movie look good.

....unless, of, course, the bit about the Superman trailer is the joke
and there really IS a Simpsons Movie "teaser trailer" (where they
don't mention a date).
Actually, even though TV series episodes take about nine months from
script to completion, decently-produced non-CGI animated movies take
at least twice as long, and the longest in advance I've seen for a
movie trailer is one year (for "The Rugrats Movie"), so chances are
somebody will hear that actual production has begun before any trailer
appears.

OK, my question is... being "Ice Age 2," how was anybody there to see the
'trailer'? Did they leave before the movie started?

Well, according to the news stories...
Reuters has the report, adding that the clip peg’s the film’s release date as July 27, 2007. The teaser is described by the news service as such: “The animated 25-second clip opens on a giant superhero S. ‘Leaping his way onto the silver screen,’ intones a narrator, ‘the greatest hero in American history!’ Cut to Homer Simpson sitting on his couch in his tighty whities. ‘I forgot what I was supposed to say,’ he says. The narrator continues, ‘The Simpsons Movie, coming to the screen, July 27, 2007.’ ‘Uh, oh,’ says Homer, ‘we better get started.’”
Indeed. Though there’ve been leaks and rumors about a Simpsons movie for years, this is the first solid indication that it’s really happening. Those Korean animators are going to be working double-time.
