Flipping my calender, I see that Easter is approaching. A while back, I
found a great collection of "Harry Potter Christmas Carols" posted on
alt.fan.harry-potter between 10 Dec 2002 and 18 Dec 2002. They were
collected in HTML format by our own Igenlode Wordsmith and can be found
at:

BTW, I can also highly recommend his HP fan-fic pieces.
Anyway, seeing that things are getting quite sluggish around here, I
thought that we might be able to revive the idea for Easter (just for the
*halibut*). Not being able to find the MC that I made from my old '78
rpm's, I can only come up with 4 suggestions:
1) I'm pretty sure that everybody here knows "Easter Parade" from the Judy
Garland - Fred Astaire movie of the same name. (Irving Berlin originally
wrote an "alternate bridge for Great Britain".)
2) "Peter Cottontail" was a hit for Gene Autry, but I'm not sure if our
Brits would necessarily know it. His rendition also differs from the
original that I found on the web.
3) I recall liking a song called "Eggbert the Easter Egg" but can't
remember the melody. If anyone could either point me to or even mail me an
mp3 of that song I would certainly appreciate it (my tape is very
scratchy).
4) Everybody knows "The Tale of Peter Rabbit" by Beatrix Potter. Perhaps
someone might have fun writing a little HP-like take-off on that, or an
original litte HP Easter fan-fic story.
In a group as divers as this one is, I am certain that there are many more
ideas out there than I can come up with at the moment.
This "thread" is only meant to be a depository for any possible
forthcoming items. It is certainly not a contest with prizes and there are
no jurors. I would however say that any idea can be used more than once
and that posted material can be edited or appended by others. That seems
to be the way it was done here in the "old days".
There is no hurry, but we warned. As Troels wrote back then, "when you get
started, you can't stop".
I'll jump in first.

D.E. Parade
To the tune of "Easter Parade"
Original by Irving Berlin
New Lyrics by Green-Eyed Chris
Never saw you look quite so deathly before
Never saw you dressed quite so frightful my dear
I could hardly wait to meet my fate this lovely stormy morning
My heart beat fast as I apparated here
For
In your cape and skull mask, you're more than up to the task
Of being the grandest old hag in the D.E. parade
I can't hide my yearning, my Dark Mark's almost burning
I am the proudest wizard in the D.E. parade
In the alleyway
Knockturn Alley-way
The photographers will snap us
And you'll find that you're
On *The Prophet* for sure
The shrunken heads are smiling and there is no denying
I love the witch on my arm in the D.E. parade

Dark Marked Severus
To the tune of "Peter Cottontail"
Original by Steve Nelson and Jack Rollins
New Lyrics by Green-Eyed Chris
Here comes Dark Marked Severus,
With his trademark sourpuss.
Got nothing but mean old Dark Arts on his mind.
Is he evil? Is he good,
Or an independent hood?
No one ever really can be sure.
Is he loyal to Dumbledore,
Or faithful to Voldemort?
Some say a Ronin Samurai.
That's the sure to die soon sort.
Cissy made him take a vow.
Lots of good that does him now.
Harry's going to smoke him out in the end.
Look at Draco and his smug little face.
Malfoy used to be his pet.
Then he fixed the cabinet.
He had DE's swarming on the place.
Snape then left his office quickly,
Not a change of underwear.
In the tower he posed sickley,
But to shirk he did not dare.
Now he's got to get out fast.
"Come on Draco. Move your ass!
Voldemort's going to give your head a shave!"
(FOR THOSE WHO JUST CAN'T STOP, HERE COMES BOOK 7:)
Running just as fast he can,
Staying out of Azkaban.
There are wanted posters nailed to every tree.
Bye-bye Dark Marked Severus.
He is no longer with us.
He helped Harry to vanquish Voldemort.
Buried in Godric's Hollow,
He's such a happy fellow.
Digging himself a tunnel over to Lil'.
(DEFINITELY TIME TO STOP!)
......
P.S.: It might not be a bad idea to *snip* before posting.
