The answer provided by http://www.snpp.com/episodes/8F10.html is not
complete, which suprises me.
At the plant, there are only two positions available, and three
applicants,
Homer and two other men. Smithers recognizes the other two as frat
brothers at Alpha Tau. They do the frat handshake, then sing a college
song. Homer tries to join their singing, but fails miserably.
BTW, according to this wonderful web site, one of the men was reading a
magazine called "Fission Illustrated".

His name was Lou Collier. Man, do I have to do all the work here!
He also produced a few episodes.

There were some good pictures in the latest issue of "Fission
Illustrated". Man, that power plant has huge containment buildings!
