This is what I reckon Ian Fleming's James Bond really looks like. It's
1940/50s singer/songwriter Hoagy Carmichael but a little bit more
masculine. That's how I reckon Fleming saw Bond. Fleming mentions Bond
looks a bit like Carmichael in Casino Royale.
The left image is Carmichael as he really looked, on the right my
interpretation of how Fleming saw Carmichael as Bond:

I've made Carmichael's brows and hair a tad darker, widened the face
and forehead, added a bit of stubble. He's a bit more masculine. I
think that's a fair approximation of Ian Fleming's James Bond. He
doesn't look that similar to any of the five Bond actors although I
think Roger Moore looks the closest to that look.
I think the young Gregory Peck looked the closest to the modified
version of Carmichael. And of course, Daniel Craig doesn't look like
these two images of Carmichael!

Craig's face is inherently too small to be a credible James Bond:

Just not masculine enough for Bond. It's rather amusing people think
he's tough, he's actually quite wimpy looking.
Sorry, but it's James Bond we're talking about. The least Bond deserves
is an actor with a larger masculine size face.

Actually, the more I look at the modified version of Carmichael, the
more he looks like the official Bond actors. I could definitely see
that version of Carmichael playing the movie Bond. Looks the movie Bond
to me.

But all jokes aside, I wish I wasn't such an outcast here. I genuinely
love James Bond. Otherwise, would I have embarrassed myself by putting
such a laughably amateurish example of PhotoShop skills up for the world --
or, um, the three newbies who haven't killfiled me -- to see? Of course!
I may be an ugly dork, but I'm an ugly dork FAN!

Of course, you left out the "faint knife-scar on the left cheek" and the
"downturned comma of black hair" that Fleming often mentions... ;)

I said I made Carmichael more *masculine*. I never made his cheekbones
larger as such, merely his jawline.
