INTERNET RADIO SHOW HIJACKED BY SPIRIT OF FRANK ZAPPA
(ASSOCIATED PRESS)
In a strange turn of events, the famed internet radio show
"Prog'opolis" was
taken over Saturday night by what some claim was the spirit of late
musician
Frank Zappa.
"I don't know what happened," co-host Vince Font said at a press
conference on
Sunday morning. "We were all set to go into The Crimson Connection and
all of a
sudden Zappa takes over."
The Crimson Connection (a much-maligned yet equally adored block of
King
Crimson-related music) normally airs during the second hour of the
three-hour
show but was delayed as the disc jockeys attempted to regain control of
their
computer, which they say was mysteriously taken over and forced to play
Frank
Zappa songs for an entire hour.
"We tried to play it off as intentional," Font stated. "We told the
audience
that we'd changed our minds and decided to do a Zappa Marathon, but
that was
just our cover story. Frank took over. I know it was him."
Font, bleary-eyed from lack of sleep and sporting a pronounced limp,
would not
comment on the reasons for his bedraggled appearance. Friend and fellow
disc
jockey Steve "Cozytime" Cozart speculated it was the result of "a
spanking session
gone awry", however attempts by this reporter to verify the information
as
accurate have proved fruitless.
Font's wife and co-host "Daisy" Jane was also present at Sunday's press
conference. Clad in a form-fitting schoolgirl uniform and brandishing a
bullwhip, she told the gathered crowd of reporters: "I'm the reason it
all
happened. Frank wants me. I'm sure he'll come back soon."
