HP Costumes [message #239728] Mo, 27 März 2006 02:01

I was at a recent Purim service (mostly to by with my nieces
and nephews). Often part of the celebration involves costumes. This
is nigh mandatory when the service is full of little kids. And yes,
there were HP Costumes there: one Harry and two Hermionies.
At SF Cons I also see a few Potter character costumes.
Hermione seems to be especially popular. Anyhow, who here has
relevant, costume related anecdotes?

At the release of HBP at our local bookstore, there was quote a range of
costumes. Witches, goths, etc. I made brooms for my kids - a 5-foot
branch, about the thickness of my thumb, then lots of twigs bunched
together at one end, held on with candle wax - a sort of "Weasley"
broom, compared to the "Malfoy" type that a couple of the other kids had
- neat and straight!

There were "best costume" prizes, and everyone had a lot of fun,
especially when the smoke machine was turned on 10 seconds before the
book cartons were opened.
