No.
JKR has told us that he is a Kneazle and nothing more.
Also, she would not have written it so that a male wizard was living in
a girls dorm room. If she had wanted Crookshanks to be a wizard, she
would have made him a guy's pet.

Clever, but note: Serius says that when transformed into a dog he
assumes some dog traits. Isn't it arguable that when transfomed into a
cat-like creature, a wizard's purient interest would be redirected from
undressed humans toward pussycats?

That sounds nice, but clearly Wormtail was well aware of the human
conversations and what was going on. I'd think a male being discovered
in the girls dorms would be pretty creepy. And not something JKR would
put in the books.
I don't mind a male cat or dog seeing me change clothes, but I do mind
a male child doing the same. Even though they aren't old enough to be
sexually interested, it just isn't something I would want. It's bad
enough when mothers bring their young boys into the girls bathroom.
It's okay, and I know it beats sending the boy unsupervised into a
bathroom with adults, but It's still icky when they boy is peeking
through the gap in the door to see who else is in the bathroom.

And "they" accuse me of being a throwback!
How about if Crookshanks went to Denmark and had the surgery? (And I'm
NOT talking cataracts...) Is "sex changed" Crookshanks OK in bedroom?

Crookshanks is only half Kneazle.

JKR has already intimated theres more to him than meets the eye, though.
But no, not an animagus.

Thank you for your reasoned response...quite the opposite of Toon's very curt
and rude reply.

In PoA, Harry looks out of the window at night and sees the black dog
and Crookshanks walking along together. The black dog is, of course,
Sirius. There must be some connection. Crookshanks was after Ron's
rat for a reason, the same reason Sirius was.

Normally it's me being accused of that !
But yes, it was a bit of a pompous and hardly informed reply from him wasn't
it ?

Later in PoA, Sirus explains that he met Crookshanks and convinced him
to try to get Ron's rat. Pretty smart for an overgrown cat, don't you
think? He really seems to understand more than most other animals.
