In the couple of years leading up to the prequels, I read quite a few Star
Wars novels. My wife worked for a national chain of book stores, so we took
home a lot of "stripped" books. Books get stripped when publishers give
retailers credit for unsold books. They send back just the front cover (to
save on shipping costs) and the retailer is supposed to destroy the rest of
the book. Often, that doesn't happen. Employees will take home the
coverless book.
I stopped reading the novels once TPM was released. I realized what utter
crap most of them were. I will probably go back and start reading what I
missed in the next few years, just because they are Star Wars. Yeah, I'm
not proud. Anyway, "Crystal Star" was one of the last books I read and
easily the worst. I'm curious to know what you think of it. Give us an
update when you are done.

The Crystal Star......by far the worst SW Book, IMO. Well, in case you
survive reading it....the next books are The Black Fleet Crisis Trilogy
and then "The New Rebellion". I liked the Black Fleet Crisis, but with
the prequels out and all, there probably won't be much of a mystery
about the identity of Luke's mother anymore.
Try reading the Han Solo Adventures (Brian Daley) or the Han Solo
Trilogy (AC Crispin) or any of the X-Wing series for a good read.
If you're looking for books that are important to the EU then try
reading the Thrawn Trilogy (Tim Zahn) or the Jedi Academy Trilogy
(Anderson).

If you haven't read the New Jedi Order series, I highly recommend it.
I think you will be pleasantly rewarded.

Todd,
There was supposed to be a new series of books in the EU just following the
New Jedi Order... do you know what it will be called and when the first book
is due to be released?
Thanks.

Only if you choose to believe the stuff EU writers come up with.
Anti-force, Ysalimari and alien Imperials pushed the EU onto the same level
as fanfic for me.
