In either Ep V or VI O-W tells Luke he thought he could teach as well
as Yoda, but that he was wrong about that (considering Anakin turned
evil).

Consider, though, that in Ep II that Yoda calls Count Dooku - also evil
- his old padawan. (BTW, what is Count Dooku's other name? Darth
what?)

It would have taken too much film time for O-W to say "I thought I could
instruct him as well as Count Dooku" and then to explain to Luke who the
hell "Count Dooku" is and how Dooku was the one who trained his own master
Qui-Gon.
