SW Empire at War review requested [message #236352] So, 19 März 2006 22:47

Hi all,

I see no talk of the new SW game Empire at war. I came accross the game in a
store last week and I wondered what the game would be like.

Who has bought and played the game already, and is willing to give comments
on it?

I didn't d/load a demo (yet) because it's a 750MB file...

Any comments are welcome

I think it`s one of the best strategy games around. Not only because
it`s star wars, but because of all the things you can do. Space combat
or on a planet, attack/capture planets....I really recommend the game.
Read about it and see screenshots at www.gamespot.com or any other game
site.

Agreed, if you enjoy a good RTS like Age of Empires you will love this
game. It's also an excellent Star Wars experience as well. If you
play the the story mode, you are able to choose which side to play on.
The events of the game take place shortly before ANH. This is the time
when the Empire is just becoming aware of the threat the Rebellion
poses.

The gameplay is just plain awesome. It doesn't focus really on the
tedium of gathering resources and constructing. The more planets you
control, the more credits you get per game day. You then build your
barracks and space stations (or whatever buildings you choose) in the
planets limited building slots.

Once you have the required buildings, you can then build up your army.
This is where it gets fun. You can build giant fleets of spaceships
and soldiers. The way the developers focused on the battles is great.
You first have to conquer the space around a planet before you can
start the ground assault. Plus, when in combat, you hit the space bar
to enter the cinematic camera mode. It's great. I'll often just tell
my troops to attack a certain area and then enter this mode and watch
the action unfold just like I was watching the movie.

Anyway, if you're a Star Wars fan and even remotely interested in this
type of game, I would recommend it. It's well worth the money for the
single player campaign, and then you have unlimited replay value with
multiplayer.
