| Roger Moore's physical appearance in AVTAK. [message #233476] |

Anyone beside me ever notice Moore's strange physical appearance in
AVTAK? He'd obviously lost weight since OP, but he seems to have had a
face lift, too, and goes very long periods without blinking--so long
that it can be unnerving. Look at him when he first arrives at Zorin's
chateau; he doesn't seem to blink for minutes on end.
I've always found his entire performance in this film to be a bit
strange, with that weird mannequin smile he suddenly developed.
Perhaps he was medicated, or realized that he was nearly 60 and having
to do one-liners like, "I'm an early riser myself." Ouch.

I always thought he looked kind of orange in that movie, too.

Definitely a facelift....I just watched Robert Redford in "The
Clearing"...Quite a good film but the work he's had on his eyes make him
look very strange. Why do people do it when it's so obvious. The only person
I've seen who actually looks better for surgery is Sharon Osborne

And the hair is a little bit strange to. To much hairspray. Maybe that`s the
reason for his orange look. He inhailed to much hairspray while they did his
hair :-)

According to Rogers publicist, Moore didn't have a facelift circa AVTAK.
This is of course utter bullshit - as any one with at least one good eye can
plainly see - but the publicist insisted that it was the truth. I guess the
guy was so used to feeding the media crap that he began to believe his own
copy.
Moore should have called it quits after Octopussy - while he still looked
like Roger Moore.

Thanks, Blofeld's Cat. Very interesting background information.

Oddly enough, Moore's PA gave me that little nugget of disinformation when I
had enquired of him if his then-new client, George Lazenby, would give my
OHMSS website a small endorsement.
The PA visited my site and took exception to comments I had made about Roger
Moore as James Bond (as opposed to Roger Moore as Roger Moore the man) in
the welcome-page spiel.
Why my opinion about Roger Moore as James Bond should have even the
slightest bearing on a request for George Lazenby to endorse my OHMSS
website is beyond my capacity to understand; the fact that I also maintain a
reasonably popular website devoted to, "The Persuaders" under the
www.ohmss-007.com banner - which does nothing but praise Moore as Lord Brett
Sinclair - counted for nothing. The fact was I had expressed an opinion,
which made mention of the AVTAK facelift and that is downright criminal in
the eyes of a PA unable to separate the personal from the professional.

More interesting stuff. I visited your website and enjoyed it very
much.
I think it's pretty obvious he's done some significant things to his
personal appearance--a new face, a crash diet, some serious tanning,
and hair so luxuriant it would make Tanya Roberts jealous. He just
looks (and acts) WEIRD.
I also agree with you on both OHMSS and George Lazenby, based upon your
website. My only quibble with that film is Telly Savalas as Blofeld.
Apart from that, it's damn near perfect.

Thanks to the combined efforts of Roger Moore and Grace Jones, AVTAK is
one of the few films of Christopher Walken's career where his hair
looks almost normal...

Oh, he's creepy as hell in AVTAK, no two ways about it. But, as Phil
noted about Moore and Grace Jones making Walken's hair look relatively
normal, I'd say this is supporting evidence in my thesis that casting
was AVTAK's downfall.

Well, I'm glad that others have noticed Moore's overall strangeness in
that film. He should have quit after Octopussy, which is still one of
my favorites.
