Here is an actual shot of Daniel Craig in Casino Royale. The camera is
behind the actual film camera shooting the scene and you see the
clapperboard.

I've put the sequence on a loop so you can really see Craig's face.

Craig looks NOTHING like Bond. He looks old too, if that sequence is
anything to go by. He is the most old looking of any first time Bond
actor.

He looks like an older Steve McQueen but NOTHING like James Bond. And
that's exactly how he'll look in Casino Royale.

Sorry, but Craig is miscast.

Craig looks so old and craggy and tired looking in that looped
sequence. People say Brosnan is looking his years, heck, Craig looks it
in his first Bond film! And let's not forget, Martin Campbell sang the
praises of Bond candidate Henry Cavill, whom is a youthful 23. Cavill
made it to the final two so you see how Craig was never the
overwhelming choice to play Bond. From all that's been reported,
Barbara Broccoli was the only one that wanted Craig. And the odds are
her choice will backfire.

So are we to assume that you are not at all content with the casting?
Seriously, I think the point is made. Craig is not a very intuitive
choice for a Bond casting, nor was it a good idea to dump Brosnan. This
NG has now raged over it for I know not how long and it is getting
tedious. Ever more pics from Craig who does not look like Bond,
ridiculous interviews, Homepages indulging in hatred towards someone
most of us not even met yet, and who just has the bad luck of being
offered a large sum of money to play the world's most famous secret
agent, whilst not having the looks (perhaps) or the driving skills
(hey, you ever drove an aston?) or whatnot. Deal with it. He is cast,
it's history. There is nothing that could possibly stop a several
million dollar investment being stopped half a year before its release.
We have no other choice than to live with it, watch the movie and give
a judgement, just as we did before.
Craig is miscast, so what? If it does not turn out to be a success,
they will probably reconsider after that movie: James Bond will return.

Well you have some good points there, thomi. Can't argue with you. My
point is that's the first real footage of Craig as Bond so people can't
say "well, wait and see what he looks like."

But for what it's worth, I don't think Daniel Craig is an unattractive
man - merely someone I wouldn't associate with James Bond. And I've
never seem real Bond type charm from him but he could show it in the
new Bond film. It's hard or unfair to say he has no charm or charisma
when we haven't seen him act the part, but I do think it's fair to say
his 'look' isn't quite right for Bond. But as ever, it's just my
opinion. And to give Craig some benefit of the doubt, he looks okay in
some photos, but it's easier or more tempting to post links to the more
unflattering ones, I guess. Saying "Craig looks terrible" gets more of
a reaction than saying "Craig looks cool."

Feh. You speak as if your opinion is definitive. You don't speak for me.

I think Daniel Craig is an inspired choice.

Bring on "Casino Royale." May it wildly succeed beyond anyone's
expectations.

"...Bond's eyes narrowed. He knew, at some point, he would have to slay this
particular dragon. He settled back in his chair, removing a Morlands' three
ring special from the gunmetal cigarette case. As he waited for the
delicious Balkan/Turkish blend to take effect on his lungs, he reflected
that Craig easily has better approval ratings than the President..."

"I think Daniel Craig is an inspired choice."

Inspired if you think Bond looks like the love child of Chuck Norris
and Bruce Willis:

I always thought Bond looked more like Sean Connery and the other
Bonds? My mistake.

Everyone (or atleast most people) tend to associate what "Bond" looks/acts
like
by the first actor they saw as 007. For me that was Connery. And while I
still feel that
he was the best - again only my opinion - and was VERY disappointed with the
choice
of Moore to replace him - I feel that all the various actors have brought
their own
good and bad points to the role. (And while Craig's dirty-blonde hair does
not fit the
typical profile - and Fleming's descriptions - I will learn to accept it.
Though why they could
not have dyed his hair darker is beyond me.)

Please don't feed the trolls. The idiot you're replying to has been
universally killfiled, and the only time we see his nonsense is when
someone comes along and quotes him. Thank you.

Exactly, Tom. One thing is clear -- the naysayers are, by far, the
minority. They're just more vocal. Most people I know, and most people in
this forum and others, are fine with the casting.

Orange in A VIEW TO A KILL. In fact, he was totally orange; just
like Judith Chalmers....

Hmm, I also look like this:

http://img58.imageshack.us/img58/624/mex31700x327800x3735kd. jpg

I'm not an actor nor the ideal height, but surely Eon could have looked
for some chap more like me in appearance? (no arrogance meant).

I dunno, isn't Bond supposed to be rather handsome and with a larger
more alpha male look? I think so. I know the chap has to act the part
but why not find someone with a stronger look?

Oh well, never mind. I'm not even a guy, just a masculine looking
woman.

Heh.

That last bit was a joke.

And not all pretty boy guys are gay. Only the ones that post on net
boards, hee hee.

Whatever, dude. You are so vain and self-absorbed, your mirror refuses
to show you your reflection.

Blah.

And in other news Daniel Craig broke his foot while learning to walk.
"It was difficult but I was told Bond had to walk in the film. I tried
it but fell over. The press made a big deal out of it but it's no big
deal. I should be out of intensive care in about two weeks."

:)
