On a personal note, I have a new son, Liam David, born March 7, 2006,
at 9:49 AM, CST. He is 6 lbs, 14 oz. Both mother and son are doing
well. Dad just feels old. : ) By the way, he already said his first
sentence, "Sean Connery is the best Bond, but I am looking forward to
seeing Daniel Craig in the role!"

Congrats, Mark! I bet Liam could already pen better lyrics for 'Casino
Royale' than Tom Z!

What do you do, Vargas?"
"Vargas knows it's called an 'Ora-nge with Cheese' in Holland."

Mark,
Heartfelt and sincere congratulations!

"...Bond's eyes narrowed. He knew, at some point, he would have to slay this
particular dragon. He settled back in his chair, removing a Morlands' three
ring special from the gunmetal cigarette case. As he waited for the
delicious Balkan/Turkish blend to take effect on his lungs, he reflected
that perhaps his admittedly subtle witticism regarding "orange" as the only
word in the English language that does not rhyme with any other is lost on
Mr. Mac..."

Not at all. There's a commercial on the radio featuring (the tied
with Ed Lauter for Ubiquity Award) Nick Frost for the Orange mobile
network in which orange not having a word rhyming with it
forms the punchline of the spot. Thing is, the studio guy supposedly
catches him out with a word which does rhyme with orange. I
can never make it out clearly.
Couple that with the fact that I'm dumb.

"Vargas doesn't do subtlety."

Glad to know the kid will be raised right.

Congratulations, man! Sounds like you're steering the little 'un
right.

More than just "orange", Z.
Silver and purple have no rhyme either. There are quite a few more,
but I don't recall them off the top of my head.

Huh! I had always heard it was only "orange."
Live and learn.

Some wag of a comic poet (not John Hegley, but of the same ilk), when
challenged to find a rhyme for 'purple', paired it with
'burp'll', as in eg 'a burp'll make the baby feel better'.
That's a contraction of two words anyway, so it doesn't really
count.
As for the first example, I was going to add a few lines of doggerel
about a DEA agent named Killifer who sold out his friend for thirty
pieces of sillifer, but thought better of it...

Given that 'angst' and 'pint' are among the words listed, it's no
suprise that the definitive English country-and-western song has yet to
be written.
