You know that bit at the end of 'Blazing Saddles' when the climactic
fight/chase spills over onto the sets of a half-dozen other movies...?
Other than ignoring these messages (I'm kind of stuck with Google
Groups for the time being) does anybody know how to get rid of this
crap?
Best
Phil

I don't think it is possible on Google. At least all the replies are under
the one subject heading.
NTL shares the same news server as Virgin, they're not too bad. Although
I don't use them much these days.

I'm stuck with the same thing, Phil, and my attempts to learn how to
block posts, or even eliminate posts I've already read, have never
resulted in any answer other than "you can't with GOOGLE," just as Mac
says.
"One of the most irritating features is that little "Not yet rated"

Use of Google Groups is a choice. There are free news servers out there;
just look for them. The topic is discussed in alt.free.newsservers
Everyone please stop using Google Groups except in an emergency.

I highly recommend Individual to you both. Never a missing post,
SPAM free and you can block (on your reader) as you wish.
10 Euros a year (they're based in Germany).

What do you do, Vargas?"
"Vargas wants Ed Lauter in CASINO ROYALE; he's only been in 37
films this year. Although his best performance was in Tom Z's
Roast Video."

Aside from my minimal computer literacy, I'm also pretty mobile in
terms of where I'm working from week to week, so unfortunately Google
is sometimes the easiest way to go. For home use, however, thanks to
both yourself and Mac for the recommendations.
Best

Which would be...errr...when exactly?

I had used it for many years when it was still free. I second that. It was
a well-run News server, run by people who actually care about offering a
quality text Usenet service.
However, when it became a pay service, I couldn't get through the damn
menu layers to send them a nominal annual fee, so I gave up. Perhaps the
process has been improved. I would have been happy to mail them a check,
even if I had to buy a money order denominated in deutchesmarks; I think
they went pay shortly before the Euro became mandatory.

Late at night when you cannot sleep, thinking about how much better a
scene in a certain movie would have been if only... and you just have to
express these thoughts or explode.

I didn't have too many problems paying on-line, so perhaps it's better now.
