Actually Fleming's Casino Royale doesn't show Bond becoming a 00 agent,
he's already an experienced 00 agent. Haggis doesn't even know what
he's talking about, and this is the man given the job of rewriting the
script. Sigh.
Try reading the book, Paul.

How can a Bond writer say such an ignorant comment? He doesn't even
know what's he's talking about! Since when did Bond get his Double O
status in Fleming's CR? He didn't. Fleming never did a Bond Begins
novel. NEVER. Haggis is completely ignorant and reinventing history to
justify his rewrite.
The Bond producers can't even be bothered to get the basics right.
They're giving us Bond Begins and claiming Fleming did that when he
didn't. Amazing distortion of the 'facts'. I doubt the average movie
goer cares what Fleming wrote but Eon and Haggis don't have to change
the facts to justify their screenplay.
