Prepreplanning a trip to London. Fingers crossed for next year. Anything I
should see as a must. Relatives there in London thru marriage so a pad is
secured. The itinerary is the unscheduled problem. Yes, I will look thru my
eyes as a visitor. Therefore the usual list of suspects to be camered. Just
early early planning and the big IF>

Offhand, I'd say the Rosetta Stone and other choice exhibits in the
British Museum should be some of the most important things to see, and
there's the giant squid in the Natural History Museum, now. A trip
round the London Eye should certainly go on the schedule, too, along
with a mooch round Covent Garden (or Camden Market, for the more
alternative London scene) and a stroll along the Thames to Hampton Court
Palace.
Many also consider the Tower of London and Tower Bridge essential when
doing the London tourist bit, and I can recommend a tour boat ride from
Westminster down to the Thames Barrier and back.
There's plenty more, but that'll be enough to get you started. :)

Handy. Youth hostels aside, London isn't generally the cheapest of
places to stay.
