We apologise for the inconvenience (caused by a new PC, a girlfriend,
teething problems and several bounced cheques to Iranian bank accounts)
but would like to assure passengers that the many recent posts by John
Coxon are not, in fact, illusions.
P.S. Soon it will have been three years since my first post - I feel old.

Oh my. I feared it had something to do with lemon soaked napkins. I am
relieved.
Also, I think the above is ok so I will head straight forward to offer
a cup of tea instead.

Oh my. I still have some months until my two year anniversary.

There's this chap on the other side of the pond called George W. Bush.
Caused a bit of a stir abroad apparently. His dad was a bit of a pain too.
He tried stomping on some foreigners in the Gulf War. Second time round his
son was at it - GW 2.
Where were you ?

I was in Denmark and saw both on TV. I even know a guy that is in Iraq

I know several people who have come back from Iraq, and a couple of
mothers who lost sons there. I don't know anybody there now.
I gotta say though, the conversations about how information technology
has affected what we learn about what's going on there are fascinating.
For example, the Abu Gahreb (or however it's spelled) stuff came to
light because soldiers were sharing souvineer snapshots on the web.
In a few years whatever is going on there now is going to be so much
stuff in archives, just like the HHGG in all its various forms.
I predict DNA will still cause many more laughs than the GW stuff....

Yes, every one knows they were better off being raped by Saddam's troops 9_9
He showed he cared by torching all the oil wells when he left - that same
oil being the reason he invaded "Province 19" in the first place. Never
mind - at least it gave him more time to be nioce to the Marsh Arabs :-)

Yes, Douglas' writing was only ever knockabout comedy 9_9. Never anything
political, never anything serious. Except ALL THE BITS THAT WERE. Ever
tried reading the full range of his stuff? Even "Last Chance to See" or
even his references to war in H2G2 (the dolphins didn't invent it and were
less intelligent than the human race in the latter's view ;-))

I'm remembering the time I was talking to a young Republican
counter-protester at some peace protest. He had just said
"I didn't realize (whatever it was I had menationed)".
I pointed to my own eyes and said "these are real eyes".
I don't know if you need to have an american accent to hear
"realize" and "real eyes" with the same sound. In this world
of extreme cross marketing the overlap could be significant!

My thinking was that John was posting to afda months before I moved to
where I now live. Where I've been living for 3 years this month.

You have some strange months. I have never been able to fit three
years of time in a single month...
Not that I wouldn't have liked it some times :-)

Time is an illusion.

It makes for hardship money-wise, one monthly wage packet to be spread
over 36 subjective months expenditure.

Incidentally, the 'Mend your fuelish ways' sticker you sent out in the
2003 (?) afda card to me, finally has found a home on a housemates
diary. She loved it :)
(yeah, seriously took that long. I was cleaning my room the other day
and found my 2003 afda cards in a pile unsorted... :/

That's wonderful. Did you tell her about my website?

No problem. I sold one of them at a peace march in 1991,
and didn't find out until 1995 that somebody had put it
on a guitar case that went around the world three times.
I love getting stories about where those things end up.
Pictures are even better!

Anna Eshoo's office, and then came home and put my new pictures
from Saturdays march across San Jose on my website.
