value of Star Wars toys [message #228802] So, 12 März 2006 20:05
Sean376
Does anyone know what the name of the book/mag is that lists the value
of figs and toys from vintage and most recent from Star Wars?

I re-started collecting Star Wars stuff again early last year and want
to get an idea how much my current collection is worth.

I recalled seeing it some where on eBay awhile back but since i can't
get on eBay like most of us on Webbies.

Thanks!!

Lee's Toy Review has a good portion of thier magazine dedicated to Star
Wars prices. Some find it a little off base, others base decisions on
it.

The easiest way is to simply find auctions for similar things on eBay
.... of course some of the prices on there are utterly ridiculous. :-(

There's also Toyfare magazine.

There's a book here:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1574324551/104-0097279-0843 953?v=glance&n=283155

This link also lists some other books in the "Customers who bought this also
bought" section. You can also go to eBay (I know you said you can't, but
there's always the public library if you wanted to take that route) and see
what the average price in the "real world" is for any given item, because
that's really the best test. Just because a book says it's worth something,
that doesn't mean you will find anyone willing to pay that price. One thing
I use is Brian's Toys' price guide. I take what they are charging and
divide by three. That should give you a pretty accurate value. ;-)

What years did you collect before? I collected from 1978-1984. I hated the
modern figures when they were first released and didn't get back into it
until the release of TPM in 1999. I tried to fool myself into believing
that I'd only get a few figures. 1300 figures and roughly 50 ships later, I
don't have those same delusions.

I usually don't buy Toyfare. I only collect Star Wars and I can get most of
the information on that weeks earlier on websites like rebelscum.com, but I
plan on picking up the issue coming out this week. It is going to list all
25 figures that have made the finals for the latest Fan Choice figure. I
have a feeling that more than just the winner will be made and they have
some really interesting choices. EU fans will be particularly pleased with
the list.

I first started collecting from the very start with the "Early bird"
mail in and quit around '83 or so when i turned 17.

I felt like i was outgrowing it so like a dumbass i basically gave it
all away not knowing back then it would be worth so much money now.

The bug bit me again early last year when i bought the Darth Vader FX
lightsaber from Master Replicas and now have roughly 42 items but i am
now mostly acquiring the big statues from Gentle Giant.

I was just curious to see how much my current collection is worth.

Unless you kept them in "mint" condition still on their cards /
unopened boxes, they're not really worth that much. For most of them
you might just get back what you paid for them.

I've collected most of the various stuff over the years (not all of it
made it to shops here), but stopped with just before Episode III. I've
got a double-cupboard *FULL* of stuff. I went to the shop today to look
at the Titanium vehicles and almost bought them, but I think they're
over-priced (the small single vehicles aren't too bad, but the bigger
ones are ridiculous prices here). :-(

I'm very interested in seeing the results. It's great to see them open up
the poll to include every single character ever featured in any Star Wars
medium. I sure hope Ben Quadinaros wins but agree that more than just the
winner will be made.

Unfortunately, Quadinaros didn't make the cut for the top 25. :-(

I would have voted for him just for you, Brett. Seriously. As it stands, I
think I'll vote for the Galactic Marine (aka Clone Commander), Hermi Odle,
Yarna or one of the Padme figures. What do you think?

Here are the final choices:
a.. Anakin Solo - Expanded Universe

a.. Bastila Shan - Knights of the Old Republic

a.. Clone Commander - Revenge of the Sith*

a.. Commander Neyo - Revenge of the Sith

a.. Corran Horn - Expanded Universe

a.. Darth Malak - Knights of the Old Republic

a.. Darth Maul - The Phantom Menace

a.. Darth Nihilus - Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords

a.. Darth Revan - Knights of the Old Republic

a.. Exar Kun - Tales of the Jedi

a.. Hermi Odle - Return of the Jedi

a.. HK-47 - Knights of the Old Republic

a.. Jacen Solo - Expanded Universe

a.. Jaina Solo - Expanded Universe

a.. Kir Kanos - Crimson Empire

a.. Kyle Katarn (Jedi Knight) - Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II

a.. Luke Skywalker - Return of the Jedi

a.. Mara Jade Skywalker - New Jedi Order

a.. Nom Anor - New Jedi Order

a.. Padmé Amidala (Ilum cold gear) - Clone Wars

a.. Padmé Amidala (Fireside black dress) - Attack of the Clones

a.. Padmé Amidala (Naboo funeral) - Revenge of the Sith

a.. Quinlan Vos - Star Wars: Republic

a.. Willrow Hood ("Ice Cream Maker Guy") - The Empire Strikes Back

a.. Yarna d'al Gargan - Return of the Jedi

I would agree that we need some damned Ewoks. I've heard that there are to
be a couple in the basic line later this year.

Thanks mate, I appreciate that. : ) I've just voted for Hermi Odle, he was
my second choice after Ben. A Yarna figure would be great too.

I've seen the pics of Chief Chirpa and he looks great but a couple of Ewok
army builder packs would be nice.

We've had repaints of the Wookiee Warrior, Clone Commander, Clone Pilot,
etc. Why not two or three Ewok molds repainted several times? I'd buy
dozens.
