LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - In a new reality series planned for Fox's
midseason slate, the competition for a big cash prize could end after one
episode or extend indefinitely, the network said Tuesday.
Premiering March 22 at 9:30 p.m., "Unan1mous" isolates nine contestants in a
locked bunker, where they vote on which one of them will win a $1.5 million
cash prize. The catch is that the longer it takes for them to decide, the
less money will be available.
The biggest wild card for Fox is that "Unan1mous" could conceivably end
after one episode, said Mike Darnell, executive vp alternative programming
at Fox.
"We don't know when it will end," Darnell said. "The biggest issue is it
could end at any moment."
"The fact that a network exec like Mike can step up and do this speaks for
itself," said J.D. Roth, one of the executive producers of "Unan1mous." "I
don't know anyone at any network that could try something like this."
Darnell would not elaborate on where or when the shoot for "Unan1mous" takes
place, only that it is "in progress." In keeping with its open-ended nature,
"Unan1mous" has no specific episode order from the network, though Darnell
estimated it could wrap in eight.
The contestants will include a broad cross-section of the country, including
a minister, an atheist, a ladies' man and a feminist. Each of them could
have secrets exposed that would influence the vote.
Each week, a contestant is eliminated from contention but continues to live
in the bunker and vote for the winner. During the series, the subjects have
no exposure to the outside world and are monitored entirely via cameras
hidden in the bunker.
"Unan1mous" was created by Lincoln Hiatt ("The Contender") and co-created by
Roth and Todd Nelson ("The Biggest Loser").

Interesting concept. At first I'd tell them I had brain cancer and
needed the money because I got laid off and had no insurance.
They'd fall for it. If they didn't I'd get all mean, and threaten
them, hopefully the fear will make me win.
What would you do?

That's a poor excuse, there's these things called DVRS or some call

should get one, and get with the times.
If you need any advice on a DVR you could try the search enging google.
Good luck.

I think it's pretty obvious what will probably happen unless they put a
bunch of bi-polar psychos in the same room together (which will
probably wind up happening.. this is FOX after all)
One will agree to give the others their fair share. They will agree
with him and 1 show and done. The interesting part will be whether or
not that person will give the rest their share.

Since it's on Fox, they'll air a few episodes so you get interested, then
they will cancel it. I won't watch anything on Fox if I can help it, just
because they will leave you hanging.

How about this idea for a reality show: The VP shoots his hunting
partner, and then the guy has a heart attack.
BTW, DVR? Me, I rely on good ol' VHS. With new belts, of course.

DVRS? Digital Video Recorder, System?
PVRS? Personal Video Recorder, System?

Is a DVR anything like a DVRS?

I would be very surprised if the contracts the contestants sign say
that they aren't allowed to give any money to any of the other
contestants, even as part of otherwise legitimate business deals (for
example, "I paid him 10% of the money for a souvenir World Series
pen"). Otherwise, I would have expected at least one "Survivor"
partnership to split that show's money.

Nah, too unbelievable. Tom Clancy has said that the difference between
fact & fiction is that fiction has to make sense.

I'm sure they will have a rule like on Survivor, that the one thing
players cannot do is conspire to share the prize money.

Or show it a few times on Sunday, then move it to Tuesday then go on hiatus
for about 2+ months put it on Thursday then claim noone's watching it and
cancel it. Gotta love the braintrusts that are Fox.
