The U.S.S. Wyvern is a Star Trek "Play by Email" Role Playing game, set
in the popular Star Trek universe originally created by Gene
Roddenberry in 1966. The U.S.S. Wyvern is placed in the "Next
Generation" era of Star Trek, and is following the events after the War
between the Dominion and the Alpha Quadrant came to a close at the end
of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and a few years after the U.S.S. Voyager
returned to the Alpha Quadrant at the end of Star Trek: Voyager.
The Wyvern is an Intrepid-class Starship, under the command of Captain
Arinea Kadiri. The Wyvern is stationed near Starbase 185, exploring a
region beyond Federation space populated by cultures who are not
necessarily on friendly terms with the Federation. The Wyvern's primary
mission is peaceful exploration and the protection of Federation
interests in the sector.
Recently on the U.S.S. Wyvern PBEM RPG:
The U.S.S. Wyvern has been assigned to escort the Golden Dragon, a
civilian freighter, to a trading outpost in Ildesh space. An insectoid
species, the Ildesh have recently abolished slavery and have opened
their doors to trade with the Federation. However, not all the Ildesh
support this change in policy, prompting the government to establish a
small corridor of space where ships can travel without being harassed
by Ildesh military patrols.
Unfortunately, this allowed pirate activity to flourish in the trade
corridor. While escorting the Golden Dragon, the Wyvern and her crew
have encountered a small group of pirates near an asteroid field, where
the pirates have made use of holographic technology to disguise their
ships as asteroids. In the ensuing battle the Golden Dragon was
captured by the pirates, disappearing behind a holographic cloaking
field.
