I only got to play the first few levels of the Xbox version (got a 360
and it wouldn't play on that), what I did play of it was quite
enjoyable. If you've played any of the other Bond games, it's pretty
much more of the same.
It's certainly not the greatest game ever made, but for the casual gamer
it's pretty good fun. Good to have the likeness and voice of Sean
Connery too.

It's one of those game for which I will wait for the Platinum (budget)
release.

It's already £19.99 in Game in Leeds- and I daresay pre-owned copies will be
turning up for less pretty soon.

I am not a gamer, but I have enjoyed the parts I have played. My twin
sons, who are eight, love it, and seem to divide their time between
that and Everything or Nothing.

I should qualify my post by saying that I am not what you would
consider a "gamer." I've never played "Halo," "Grand Theft Auto," or
any of the big name "must-play" video games. My enjoyment of FRWL is
purely as a Bond fan. I've only played the first few levels, since I
still haven't finished "Everything or Nothing." [I'd be finished with
that, except research papers don't write themselves!]
The controls are fairly easy to use on the PS2 version, and the
gameplay is easy to pick up, even for a non-gamer like myself. I have
to say, the second level (the hedge maize) is one of the neatest levels
I've ever played or seen played in any video game. And, slurred or
not, hearing Sir Sean speak as 007 again *is* exciting.
My only complaint about the game so far is that it bathes my TV in red.
I imagine some of that is intentional, but compared to every other
game, DVD and station broadcast it's ridiculous. Has anyone else had
this problem?

I don't know if you saw the "Making of" pieces in the game, but Connery
sounds really old in that interview. It sounds like there is something wrong
with his voice or vocal chords. Just my impression.

That is odd, I thought the regular X Box games would play on the 360.

Depends what 360 package you got- AIUI they'll play on the Premium 360 with
added hard drive but not on the basic 360.
Also, not *all* games are compatible - only about 13% actually work with the
360, and those need you to download additional software from XBox live.

Microsoft has a list of those that do and those that don't. There were
enough changes between the video cards and the OS that many of the titles
aren't "upgradeable". The good news is that many are and, if you have the
hard drive, they have upgrades on live that are available with the low end
live account the 360 comes with.

Or a core system that has the hard drive purchased seperately. As long
as the hard drive is hooked up, it doesn't matter if your 360 is core or
premium.

The plan is for almost all original XBox games to play on the 360, but
since the 360 has to run an emulator for that to work, someone has to
code it. So, Microsoft started with the most popular games (like Halo
2) first and is still working on many others. Check
http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/backwardcompatibilitygamesli st.htm for
the current list. Also, you don't have to download the patch for your
hard drive from Live; you can download it from xbox.com and burn it to a
CD/DVD or have Microsoft send you one in the mail.

I STILL cannot make up my mind whether to get a 360 (Premium 'natch)
or wait for the PS3.

While I still recommend both for the hardcore gamer, if you have to pick
one or the other, you need to look at three things. First, which system
do you like better regardless of anything else. For instance, I prefer
the 360 because I find the X/Y/A/B controller more intuitive than Sony's
weird X/O/square/triangle scheme. This where the demo consoles on
display in store really help.
The second concern is what kinds of games do you play. Obviously, Halo
3 will be on the 360 while Metal Gear Solid 4 will be on PS3.
Historically, the PS2 was better at RPGs while the Xbox had more action,
but that will change with the 360 and PS3, so it's better to compare the
titles for each system. If you have a bunch of Xbox or PS2 games you
will want to play, backwards compatibilty is also a factor. (There's
also the Blu-Ray versus HD-DVD mess, but I wouldn't buy a gaming console
based on a format issue).
Finally, there's how long you are willing to wait for a next gen
console. While the 360 is out, you still can't walk into a store and
buy it off the shelf yet. But the PS3 is being rumored for a fall
release here in North America and Europe's usually behind that. So
you'll still be able to get the 360 first. And, the wait for a PS3 will
be as bad as the 360 or worse with people camping out at stores for days.
Anyway, while some people get too into the console wars, you'll
naturally be pulled to one or the other if you research what *you* want
out of your gaming machine. After all, the fun part is playing the
games you want to play.

True enough. Thanks for giving me food for thought.
