New D&D movie [message #217459] Fr, 10 Februar 2006 00:10
Arcaton
My friends
following the unqualified success of the original "Dungeons and Dragons: The
Movie" (in a remainder box near you)
We have, lately released on DVD -
"Dungeons and Dragons 2: Wrath of the Dragon God".

And from the logos on the box it looks like official WoTC material!
I have this DVD... I hope to watch it soon and report back!

I think they were showing that on the Sci Fi channel a while ago. Let
us know how awful the acting gets!

They made the same mistake I've seen made in several other movies I've
witnessed in recent years; they got so slavish to the game concept they
ignored the fact they were making a movie. When I saw it, I could have
sworn we were watching a grade-b movie from the 80's.

I've heard reviews of it here, though I have not seen it, myself to verify
them.

It was supposed to be much better, although from their last effort it didn't
even make it into the theatre. They automatically downgraded it to a
b-movie production the day they started shooting it.

Well, the bits of it I saw I thought were pure grade A.
Pure grade A crap that is. I don't think I watched enough to even see the
dragon.

It has 2 dragons. A white dragon, who's a side character, and a black
dragon, who's the main villain.

And it wasn't bad. Wasn't great, but wasn't bad. The characters were true
to form.....

Well, if Arcaton says it's out on DVD, I guess I could find it at any video
store... I'd want to rent it before I buy it...

I guess we won't see that evil black dragon tear Jeremy Irons to shreads in
this movie... I guess he's not in it, since it didn't appear in theaters
before(at least, none that I knew of...)

straingt to video in the Americas.

I saw it on the Sci-Fi channel some time ago, it's supposed to be set
three hundred years or so after the first movie.

All in all it was pretty forgettable, poorly rendered undead dragon
razes the countryside because, as he puts it, "I'm evil!"

It's two hours of my life I'd like back.

One, the black. The white was silent, but according to D&D rules, the
whites are the least intelligent chromatic dragon, but they're still
intelligent enough to talk. And strong enough to not be killed with a
simple spell.....
