I've only got two of the figures (Connery from DN and Brosnan from
DAD), but I'm very impressed with the line. Does anyone know how much
longer Sideshow has the license? Additionally, has anyone heard of any
planned 2006 releases? I imagine a Daniel Craig is in the offing for a
late fall release, but there are still many worthwhile figures from the
previous 20 films.
Also, and maybe it's just me, but I'd love to see someone (Sideshow,
Hasbro, whomever) do a smaller scale line with a larger scope of
figures. Maybe something like Kenner/Hasbro's "Star Wars" line. I
know the powers that be have tried to distance themselves from
marketing that might cast a comic book light on the Bond series, but I
also know that a lot of Bond fans happen to fit the comic book
demographic, too. I don't think it a good idea to create the movies
with a slant toward this crowd, mind you, but I don't see anything
wrong with marketing merchandise for it.
I mean, the line of Bond figures that came out in the late 90s were
much more affordable than the Sideshow line, but they looked terrible.
Sideshow's line is excellent, but the cost and size of the figures is a
bit unmanageable. Suppose, like "Star Wars," you could buy five or six
figures a wave at $5-6 a figure once a month or so. The problem with
the Batman figures over the years is that the company insists on having
Batman represented strongly in every wave, leading to an abominable
assortment of costume colors and accessories inconsistent with anything
from the printed page or screen. With Bond, though, there have been so
many different outfits over the movies that it wouldn't be an issue to
keep the main character included in every assortment without resorting
to made-up appearances.
I mean, would anyone else find such an offering interesting?

take a look at www.sideshowtoy.com. I recently read an interview with
one of the sculptors who promised a new Bond figure this year, which
will probably be announced at the NYC toyfair, this month.
