I recently saw "Chronicles of Narnia" and while not art, it was a
decent movie that managed to get it's message across without
becoming too preachy. I enjoyed it. What have you seen recently?

I've been watching Fitzcarraldo in German class lately - today, those of
us awake enough to care (myself not included) voted unanimously to stop
and watch Run Lola Run instead. Neither movie was that good, if you ask me.

You do realise the preaching is the story itself, by way of allegory,
right? ^_^

Napoleon Dynamite - year 2004, IMDb.com gives it 7.1/10 (very good) -
One of the best comedies I've seen. The title character, whose name is
never explained, is the ubernerd, the nerd of nerds, and the movie
spends most of its time making fun of him and his family - his sense of
style (stuck in the '70s), his artistic skills (or lack thereof), his
brother's constant searching for girls over the Internet, his uncle's
obsession with football. No real plot develops, but anyone who can get
over that is bound to enjoy the movie.

David & Lisa- year 1962, IMDb.com gives it 7.5/10 - This is the story of
two teens in a mental institution. David, the main character, has a
severe case of obsessive-compulsive disorder and so is obsessively
afraid of death and being touched ("Don't you know that a touch can
kill?"). Lisa is a schizophrenic who speaks only in rhymes and gets
angry if anyone speaks to her normally. David and Lisa fall in love and,
through their love, learn to overcome their problems. An emotionally
powerful film with great acting and photography that is not easy to
forget. I first heard of this when a friend of mine acted in a play
version and asked me to watch him.

Well, that tends to be why I don't like unhappy sotries. I don't
like horror because I'm really susceptible to being startled and
scared.

I saw Narnia twice. Once opening night and once again later with my family.
It was not preachy at all, tis just like the books--the religious content is
there, but one has to know that it's there to see it.

My last movie was Glory Road. Meh, I didn't really want to see it, but it was
decent enough. Not worth the matinae price though.

It's about the war between Vampires and Lichen (werewolves) told from the
viewpoint of a Vampire who's purpose in "life" is to slay Lichen. I really
liked them both, actually.

Now, I don't like social situations, where I'm expected to
interact with a large number of people. But I can ignore everyone
but a companion at the movies.
