If you look at the News (http://afd.stormdancer.net/), at the top
of each issue if the AFD News Logo. It's nothing fancy or amazing
but it is text on a transparent background. And it was made at a
web site online, for free.
That said, I'm looking for the web site again. I've found places
to make free logos and banners but none of them give me the
options of the transparent background. It's possible, although sad
to think of, that the site in question is gone.
Anyone have any information or perhaps a different site where I
could make a banner like this?

Actually, you can do that using the html code itself, I believe; after
the code's written, it's up to the individual browsers to properly
interpret the effect.

The 'background' of the web site is "rgb(255, 255, 255)" as listed in
the Style Sheet, which is white. The logo is just a *.gif. The thing
about gif's as that you can make thier backgrounds transparent, any
image creation software will work in gif. For gifs I would recommend
Paint Shop Pro, althoug there are some freeware and shareware proggys
that will work, Photo Shop will also work and it does better with
*.jpg than Paint Shop Pro. I find myself working in both, sometimes in
the same image; I might need to do someting to the file that PSPro
does better or easier than PS, then going back to PS to finish the
file.

tad more draconic :) I didn't last time because I was just doing

Granted. This is assuming I want the skills however. I have
limited amounts of time, what with the 50 hobbies I have that I
want to dedicate time to and I have other skills I'm improving
rather than those that would allow me to produce computer art.

Most HTML tutorial books should say how. I have HTML 4 for the World
Wide Web, but it's dated by now.

There is such thing as an edible, nay delicious, meat pie floater, its
